I pulled open the fridge door, and had a bit of a snoop around before plucking out a pear.
As I chomped away on my pear, I went into the pantry, and fumbled around to get to a packet of salt and vinegar chips - my favourite.
Managing all my food, I walked back upstairs to my room to find mum sitting on my bed holding my phone.
'Why are you holding my phone?'
'You'll see.' She reached into one of her big pockets in the side of her camo pants, and brought out a new phone case.
She handed the iPhone 5 case to me.
'Mum, I have a Blackberry!'
'I knew that' she said before reaching into the other big pocket in her pants and bringing out a smallish white box.
On the side of the box in glittery silver writing said : iPhone 5s
'Is that for me?' I gaped.
'Yes!' Mum exclaimed back at me.
'But why? I love it and I'm so happy I got it, but why did u get me one?' I said astonished.
Mum buys me a new phone, when she is still stuck with her old Nokia 'brick'.
'Well, I thought since your blackberry just died, I would give this to you! I've had it for a while, because I got your blackberry ages ago and thought you might need a refresh.'
'Aw thanks mum!'
She handed me the box. I slid the lid of and stared at my beautiful new rose-gold iPhone 5s.
I switched it on, and the screen turned to an apple.
Mum took the phone from my hand, and clicked the case onto the back.
Mum handed me the phone. I flipped it over in my hands and admired the rustic looking English flag case on the back of it.
I turned it on once again, and went through all the requirements. Once I had finished doing that, I sat down on the bed beside mum, and we chose a wall paper.
Then I opened the contacts app, and started adding contacts to the list. I had used an apple product before, because I used to use dad's iPad, and Gabby has an iPod and an iPhone 4.
I opened my messages and set it up with all the chats and contacts I needed there.
Then I asked mum if I could go to Jay's that afternoon.
'Yes, sure, I suppose so, as long as you start doing a bit of packing before you go!'
'Ok mum, I promise I will.'
She reached over to where I was sitting and grabbed the packet of chips. She pulled them open and popped one in her mouth. She held one out for me and I bit it straight out of her fingers.
Then I looked back down at my phone and opened the new chat with Jay.
Me: Hey Jay! Mum just gave me a new phone - I'll show you today! Mum said I could come round to your place :)
Me: Is that still ok with you?
I waited for a moment before reaching out and giving mum the biggest hug ever.
'Thanks so much mum for everything - and the phone!'
'Thats ok sweet. Now I have to go downstairs, I have work to do. Just call me over the intercom if you need anything! I'll be in the study.'
'Ok sure mum! Thanks!'
Mum left the room, and is was finally by my self. I started downloading apps, and checking out all the new stuff on my new phone.
