As semi promised Cassandra was now on her way to the wake of the former Mayor, Richard Lockwood. She was mostly going to be a support beam to Carol, it was clear as day to Cassie that her husband died in strange circumstances or died because of strange circumstances and Carol wasn't doing well. Cassandra had always admired Carol's ability to always put on a smile in the most terrible of times and keep moving as if it was just another ordinary day, it was an ability Carol had taught herself over the years since Richard had lost his second re-election, in fact that was the day the ability had first appeared. Losing the first re-election didn't phase Richard he would simply just try harder the next time, although on the next time he didn't win and had gotten rather embarrassingly drunk at the grill.

She walked in with big fake smile plastered on her face and she apologized for her husband's drunken state while simultaneously dragging him out the bar. This was different however, her husband was dead. The same fake smile was plastered on her face as she and Tyler both greeted people at the door but this time everyone could see her tear filled eyes. The whole picture looked weird, Carol stood at the door smiling while Tyler stood cross armed and stoic only on unfolding his arms to greet the more important people.

Carol excused herself to tend to a catering issue when Cassie decided to show up. Tyler had been mindlessly uttering small thank yous and come ins until he saw out of the corner of his eye a certain blonde step out of her car, straight away he knew it couldn't be Caroline and suddenly butterflies rose in his stomach it can't be he thought. Tyler excused himself and sped down the steps. He tapped her arm and she turned around

"Cass" he whispered quietly

She took a deep breathe."Tyler" he visibly winced at hearing her say his full name, he couldn't believe she was here.

"what are you doing here" he asked

"your mom asked that I come here"

"really?" he raised a brow

"yes" they were awkwardly stood close together so Cassie backed up and locked her car. The same silence fell once again so they just stared until Cassie finally spoke "I'm sorry for your loss"

"Well that was a pathetic lie" Tyler whisper huffed, he was tired of hearing sorries from people who didn't given a crap. People were sad their Mayor had died but it felt like the apologies were out of courtesy and not sincerity

Cassie shifted her weight to her other heel "I'm still sorry. He was a dick but he didn't deserve to die. I know you're in pain, you lost your father and I'm here for you Tyler despite everything that happened between us" she said quietly with her head down. For the first time today Tyler felt genuine sincerity, Tyler felt that someone actually cared for him and how he was doing and so he hugged her.

He hugged her tight and hard "Thank You Cass" and she hugged him back with the same force and when they were done they both nodded a nod that basically said we'll have to catch up later. As soon as Cassie entered the Lockwood house, Carol appeared and linked their arms together she whisked her through the house greeting her to people she hadn't seen in a while one man caught Carol's attention and Cassie nearly tripped when Carol pulled her along to say hi "Cassandra dear I want you to meet someone" Carol started, Cassandra was almost blown away at the man in front her, he was tall with black hair and striking blue eyes "Damon Salvatore, Cassandra Forbes, Cassandra, Damon" The younger Forbes twin total demeanor switched at the mention of Damon's name
