Before I had a chance to even ask him what he was doing, he walked right into my house and sat down on the couch. He flipped through the TV channels. I was annoyed and grabbed the remote from him.
"What're you doing here? It's past midnight. You know there's a lot of things wrong with this but I'm not going to name them all. You're just going to answer why you're here" I demanded. He was smiling at me. He shrugged, "I was bored and everyone was asleep"
He was bored? What. He got up and walked into the kitchen. He opened the fridge.
"Stop! You know my mother is upstairs sleeping. I will literally be murdered if you wake her up. No you can't eat that" I grabbed the left over pizza from his hand. He throws his hands up defensively
"Ok fine. Here's not a good place. Let's go do something fun!"
"Sleeping is fun and that's what I was doing" He looks at me, "You weren't sleeping though. Now c'mon please? Just live a little" I was still annoyed but he looked at me with pleading eyes. I sighed, "I guess and I can have fun too so don't accuse me of being boring or something" I stuck my finger out at him, "now, do you have any ideas?"
He smirked, "Maybe" he shrugged and opened up my refrigeration again. He grabbed the jug of Arizona tea i had.
"Good this is my favorite kind. Now follow me" he pulls my arm and opens my front door quietly. It's a perfect temperature outside and a slight breeze blows our hair as we step outside.
"So where are we going? Should I bring my car keys?"
He smiled, "I don't know where we're going yet. That's the fun part and no I wouldn't suggest bringing your car" Cameron smirks as he pulls out a flask from his pocket and shows it to me.
"Oh no. No drinking tonight. I don't like drinking"
"Stella, c'mon just lighten up. We're having fun right?"
"We can have fun without that!"
"I can but I'm not sure that you can. Stop being so uptight"
"I am not uptight! You hardly know me" I said angrily. I wasn't that uptight. Maybe a little but not really. I stopped arguing because I was probably being kind of uptight. We kept walking down my street.
"Where are we even going?"
"Shh, don't ask so many questions. Ok right there is a good spot" he points to any empty soccer field. All the neighborhood games are played here and I'd given up sports ages ago so I hadn't been here in awhile. I did know that trespassing was illegal. I decided not to mention it because I knew Cameron would think I was ruining his "fun."
"They look the gate after dark, you know" I pointed out as we approached the locked entrance.
"That won't be a problem" he said as grabbed onto the fence and jumped swiftly over. I looked up at it and I was unsure if I wanted to or if I could even hop the fence.
"C'mon, Stella" he motioned for me to hurry. I climbed up and crouched on the top. The ground looked awfully far down and I closed me eyes.
"I can't jump, Cameron. I'm kind of scared" I was embarrassed to admit it but I'm scared of heights. He reached up and grabbed my hand. His hand was soft and warm. He pulled me down wrapped his arms around me making sure I didn't fall. I felt warm and fuzzy being in his arms. I looked down embarrassed and let go of his hand, "Thanks" I muttered quietly. He led us to the center of the field where he collapsed on the ground. He laid there with his hands folded behind his head and eyes closes. I watched him. He looked quite relaxed. Suddenly his eyes opened and he bolted up grabbing my arm and pulling me down to the ground with him. I squealed surprisingly then covered my mouth with my hands. I laughed out loud and so did he. He pulled out the flask and took a sip from it.
"Now isn't this fun?" He opened his eyes to look at me.
"Not my definition of fun but I have to admit this has been pretty fun"
"Now the real fun begins" he said with a smile. He passed the flask. I looked at for a moment and took a long sip. It was bitter and I made a face. It was hard to swallow and burned on the way down. He laughed at my displeasure. I shoved him and he took another sip.
"I should not be getting drunk. I hate the taste of alcohol"
"Me too but the affects are pretty great" he says and takes another sip and passes it on to me,"ask me something and I'll ask you something. I want to know more about you" he tells me.
"Why? I don't have much to say really and if you really wanted to get to know me you wouldn't have to get me drunk"
He ignores me, "first kiss?"
Taking a sip I say,"my boyfriend, David" he raises an eyebrow,"you have a boyfriend? And this whole time I thought you were madly in love with nash"
I roll my eyes, "no Nash and I have been friends for a long time"
"So you like him as just a friend?" His voice is suspicious. "I don't know what I feel really"
"Do you like your boyfriend?"
"You ask too many questions. But I don't even know if he's still my boyfriend. I acted kind of stupid the other night. I was a little drunk and made an idiot of myself. I really shouldn't be drinking anymore" I stop speaking and realize he's looking at me, "and stop staring at me!" He laughs,"Stella, it's ok to just make an idiot of yourself sometimes. You move on. He breaks up with you oh well it's his loss. You live and you learn" he shrugs it off like it would be no big deal.
"Good advice, Cameron" I say jokingly and take another sip.
"Hey, it's what I do" I realized that I enjoyed talking to him. He listened well and acted like he cared about what I was saying. There was something about him that made me feel happy, important.
