chapter 5

    

   I was walking down the street, some minutes away from my home. I was listening to music and smiling like a full. Suddenly, lights blinded my eyes. Then, I woke up. 

   I turned around and I met his two beautiful eyes. That beautiful white skin and his rich light brown hair. But, wait a minute. This was the guy I had encountered at the clothing store and at the wedding... Was he Jaehyun?  We kept on looking at each other. There was no expression on his face. He seemed lost. "Y/N?". My name on his lips, seemed as if all planets had been aligned. The ice cream fell from my hands, but I couldn't bend down. I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. How come he pronounced my name with such a familiarity? "Do we know each other from before?". I finally found the strength to ask him. "Y/N... I am Jaehyun". He said and I felt the ground swallowing me. I stood there looking into his eyes. Was he Jaehyun? The man who had disappeared from my life without saying anything? "It's me Y/N... Jaehyun". He repeated his words, but I just couldn't find the right answer. "Jaehyun...". "Let me explain everything to you. I think it's time for you to know...". He said and I looked at him in curiosity. I started crying. "No, Y/N... Please, don't cry. Everything will fall into place. Please, let me explain to you". "Jaehyun, I do want to know everything...but...". "You don't remember my face?". I looked into his eyes and he softly touched my cheek. He was trying to hold back tears. I could feel it from his stressful breathing. "Let's go home. You need some explanation". He said and took me by the hand. I felt so embarrassed, so lost. The man that had disappeared from my life for two years, was standing right in front of me, but still, I couldn't recognize him.

   Throughout all the time on our way home, he was holding my hand without letting me go. I didn't feel comfortable around him. He was a stranger holding my hand, but still, I trusted him. We arrived home, and there was my mother waiting. Was she waiting for us?  She smiled at Jaehyun and hugged him tightly. "Hello, dad". He told my mother's husband and I stood there, just in shock. "Y/N, come inside". My mum told me and softly took my hand, driving me to the living room where my mother's husband was sitting on the couch and Jaehyun was standing right behind the sofa, without taking his eyes off of me. "We didn't know when it was the right time to talk to you. I know it might frustrate you, but please don't back off". My mum said as she insisted on me sitting down. I sat next to my step-father, while I was feeling Jaehyun's breath all over my skin. "It annoys me so freaking much, that you all know something I don't know. How am I supposed to stay calm?". I shouted and I tried to control myself. "It's fine Y/N, you have every right to feel this way. Just listen carefully...". My step-father said and I tried to calm myself down in order to hear clearly what was the case. "Y/N". My mother started. "Two years ago, you had an accident. You got hit by a car, while on your way home". Her words seemed like some joke no one would ever like to hear. "Fortunately the driver rushed you to the hospital, and we immediately got a call that you were seriously injured". She stopped to take a deep breath. I was listening without feeling ready to believe any of those words. "Unfortunately...". She paused and looked at her husband. "...you stayed in a coma for 5 months. We didn't want you to stay at the hospital, so we agreed to bring you home, so you'd wake up in a peaceful environment in the end". "Jaehyun was keeping you company every day for all those 5 months, until one day, by God's plan, you finally opened your sweet eyes". My step-father added.  "But, once you opened your eyes and you looked into mine...".  Jaehyun said. "You simply didn't know how I was". He stopped, when his voice cracked. "Unfortunately, you neither remembered me nor Jaehyun". My step-father said and didn't look into my eyes. "Although you simply did remember my name and my existence". Jaehyun said. "I was never gone Y/N, you just couldn't remember my face". He continued. "The doctor never understood why this had happened". He added. I was sitting there, lost. With no feelings, no words coming out of me. I was presented to situations I didn't know they existed, cause I couldn't remember. I looked at Jaehyun whose eyes were stuck on me. "Why don't I remember you Jaehyun?".  I started crying and went straight up to my room.

   "It's okay". He told me and kept looking at me, with eyes stuck on mine. Could it be love at first sight? 

   I cried.
