Their dates were always like this; spontaneous and, more or less, unplanned. They were in their apartment, bored and without cable (they had just moved in, and not everything was set up completely). It was fortunate that Kirstie heard about a new ice skating place about a mile away.

"Want to check it out?" she smirked. He grinned back, grabbed their jackets, took her by the hand, and they escaped their house of boredom. It was that simply, really.

The drive there was half the fun. Avi got lost, twice. She couldn't stop laughing at him, and eventually, they made it to a big warehouse-looking building with big, glowing letters that spelled out the name of the place: "Indoor Ice." Not a very creative name, but inside, it was very new and modern. There were strobe lights and booming speakers, even a large projection screen for hockey games on one of the walls. The ice looked sleek and since it was an hour away from closing time, very few people were there, and they were all adults.

After getting their skates, they awkwardly walked onto the rink, slipping and sliding the whole way.

"You're so much better than me!" Kirstie whined, pouting a little bit, so Avi took her hands and guided her around the rink. She squealed at every turn and spin, and she nearly made them fall more than once. But he loved every minute of it. Suddenly she broke free and started going on her own.

"Have you got the hang of it now?" Avi called from where he still stood. Kirstie didn't even have time to nod as she sped around the rink, rushing into his arms. The impact knocked both of them onto the floor, and they laughed so hard it took them five minutes just to get up.

Kirstie brushed herself off and looked up to see him staring at her. She suddenly felt embarrassed. "What are you looking at?" she asked nervously, covering her face with her hand.

"You." he said huskily, not meaning to, it just came out that way.

"Why?" she giggled, holding his hands and swinging them back and forth. They were standing in the middle of the ice but nobody seemed to be bothering them.

"You're just so beautiful. Like...a princess. My little ice princess." he replied, moving a little piece of hair behind her ear to get a better look at the woman he was able to call his. He shook his head to get out of his mini trance and cleared his throat. "Let's, uh, keep skating, yeah?" he pulled her further out on the ice while she smiled to herself.

After several laps and almost-accidents, they somehow found themselves in racing positions. They decided that the loser of their contest would have to pay for coffee later. By now, they were the only ones on the ice and it would be their last lap considering it was closing time. One of the staff members (a hopeless romantic, though he'd never admit it) allowed them this last run, and even started the race for them.

"Ready...set...go!" he called out, and they were off. Avi, of course, was in the lead. Then he heard a thud, and looked over to see Kirstie on the floor, holding her ankle. He skated over to her faster than he had ever before.

"Are you hurt, are you alright?" he helped her up, continuing to ramble, hoping that it wasn't serious, almost tearing up at the pained expression on her face. "Are you okay?"

"I-I...I think...I think I'm going to win this!" she lightly shoved him out of the way and continued on with the race, unscathed. Avi stood there, frozen for a few seconds before realizing that she tricked him.

"Oh, you little...Come back here Kirstin!" he laughed, racing towards her. There was no way he could beat her, though. She won, high-fiving the staff member who shook his head, chuckling at the two.

Avi crashed into Kirstie, planting a kiss on her lips and then without warning, pinched her very ticklish side, making her double over in laughter and surprise.

"Hey! That wasn't very nice!" she giggled, regaining her composure.

"Neither was faking an injury so that you wouldn't have to pay for coffee!" he laughed in return, wrapping an arm around her waist. They looked up to see the guy who let them have the race, who motioned for them to return their skates.

"Alright now, closing time. Thanks for coming." he waved to them as they were on their way out.

"No problem, and thanks to you too!" Avi called back as they left the ice skating rink, exhausted, but still giddy from all the excitement.

"So...Starbucks?" Kirstie asked proudly when they got into Avi's car. He rolled his eyes and drove to the nearest one, letting her drag him inside. It was nearing eleven o'clock at night, and they had an intense and very early rehearsal planned for the next day. Avi brought this up as they sipped their drinks at one of the tables in the cafe.

Kirstie shrugged. "It'll be fine. We always are." she played with the a cappella championship ring that he always wore, smiling like a love struck first grader.

Avi simply nodded, and leaned over to kiss her gently. When he pulled away and to finish his drink, Kirstie just sat there admiring him. She didn't know if the tint of color in her cheeks was from the biting cold air at the ice skating rink, or from the blush she got whenever Avi kissed her...whichever one it was, she was perfectly content with just sitting there, being with him.

A/N: sorry, I was going to update earlier but I just got back from a family vacation! This story was probably a little rushed, but I hope you liked it. :)
