"So you gay?", He spat the first thing right at my face.
"What?", I looked back at him with shock and a high pitched voice.
"Yeah he's right, so are you gay?", Noah asked me with a cocking expression.
"Guys, come on this is stupid.", Lily complained as I felt completely confused of their question over my sexuality.
"Rules are rules.", Mary shrugged at Lily.
"Just give her a break here please?", Lily seemed outrageous at defending me.
Why was she being so nice to me? Or was it just her nature?
"You heard the girl. . . Rules are rules!", The kid right next to me spoke again.
I furrowed my eyebrows looking at everyone around the table that looked at me.
"We don't hang around with other people unless and until we don't date them or they're gay.", Noah broke the silence.
Gay? Did they mean the happy gay?
"Our friend Eddie here is also openly gay.", James added making me look at Eddie
He didn't seem happy at all, so they definitely do mean by gay. . . Like gay -- gay.
"So? Bi? Homosexual or Penn? What's the deal? Cassandra?", Irene asked with a serious face.
It was either accept that I was a gay or let myself rote in the outcasts of the school.
I can let myself in by any other method perhaps? But if I get up from these people in the middle of the cafeteria in front of everyone. . .
I turned around and say Ray who was shooting glares of death my way.
My stomach churned with anxiety as my toes curled in my Vans underneath the table.
"So. . . ?", Mary asked pushing me even more.
"I guess you've definitely crossed paths with the wrong people.", James chuckled as everyone else laughed lowly.
Olive somehow seemed less interested in the entire conversation as he simply scrolled through his phone and chewed on his food.
"Well, I guess you need to leave this table then.", Eddie laughed out, waving his hand at me.
Oh God! I can't let this happen. I don't want to be bullied for the rest of my sophomore year or my entire highschool career, ending up as the girl who went into depression and wasn't able to perform good in her grades, died single as a virgin.
And what harms could this lie cause?
Nothing! Who cares about what a few bunch if popular kids think or know? It wasn't like I was ever going to end up with anyone of them.
I weighed the pros and cons of each and every situation.
Like choosing between two STDs and choosing which one is less fatal.
"I'm gay!"

A lie told for escape becomes a bitter truth to live with.
