Starting Over - Chapter 6
Lunch went by too quickly and soon enough I was sitting in the back row in my next class. None of my new friends shared this lesson with me, so I was on my own. Great. Tuning out the teacher, I passed the hour doodling in my notebook. The bell rang not soon enough, and finally school was over. Good thing, too, because one more second of glances and stage whispers and I would've thrown a fit.
Walking through the crowded parking lot to my new car as quickly as possible, I met every pair of eyes with a defiant look. They hadn't scared me off, and overall I think my first day was pretty successful.
I walked past a group of guys and girls in skinny jeans and dark clothes. I felt sort of guilty for stereotyping, but I searched the group for Trey, the nice and attractive boy that had shown me to a few of my classes. I pouted when i didn't see him, but kept walking.
Everyone seemed to be hanging with their friends in the parking lot, and i felt a little awkward, because I wasn't sure if I was close enough with anyone to hangout with them outside of a class yet. I mean, sure, I think Mia and Chris and even Alex were going to be my friends, but that didn't mean I wasn't a little self-conscious about tagging along with them. Not that I would ever admit that, I didn't like whining to other people because I sure as hell didn't enjoy listening to it come from others' mouths.
Sighing, i finally reached my car and was shocked to see someone leaning against it. I cleared my throat loudly and the person turned around. A small grin took over my face when I saw it was Trey.
"Oh hey, I was looking for you before," I told him, and quickly shut my mouth. What in the hell Arriana? Play coy! I mentally scolded myself for showing him I might possibly be interested. Damn.
Fortunately, he smiled and sheepishly scratched the back of his neck. "Sorry for not showing you to any of your other classes. I sort of figured that Alex would do it, you know, since it kind of looked like you uhm... knew each other."
My face was blank for a few seconds before I realized what he was saying. Fucking hell, so he didn't catch on to my 'brother' comment. He thought I slept with Alex! Ridiculous, I would never. Just because he's cute and he happens to live in the same house as me does not mean- wait. NO BAD. I mentally shook myself and put on a surprised face for Trey.
"Whaaaat," I said stretching the word into a question. "Alex is my step-brother. I just moved in with him and my dad. But no, he's too annoying to show me around," I said teasingly and put on my trade-mark trouble making grin.
"Oh!" He said in sudden realization. He smiled and laughed in relief. "Oh okay. Cool." He nodded his head, making his black hair fall out of place and into his eyes. I laughed at him as he brushed it aside.
"Okay, well, I'll see you later, yeah?" I started to climb into my car.
"Wait, wait," he said quickly. I stopped with one foot in my car, and raised an eyebrow for him to continue. "Uh, I was wondering if maybe i could text you sometime?" He asked nervously, and looked everywhere but at me. Ha. I made him nervous.
I took my foot out of the car and slowly walked up to him, hoping I looked at least slightly seductive and not like a sloth. I stopped just a few inches from him, and heard him gulp. I went up on my tiptoes and whispered in his ear "I'd love that," and slipped my phone into his hand before backing off. What? I needed to let him know I was at least a little interested, even though he looked like he had just seen Jesus or something. His mouth was open in shock and he was looking at me in a daze.
I laughed and he snapped out of it. Quickly he put his number in my phone and handed it back wordlessly. "Cool. I'll text you and then you'll have my number" I smiled and he took me by suprise by winking at me before walking away. I blinked and blushed. I was supposed to be the one making him nervous! Shaking my head like a deranged person, I finally hopped into my car and drove back to my new house. Back to Dick. i rolled my eyes and sped off.
