Seven year old Hailey slowly opened her eyes when she heard little voices across the room. She slowly turned her head with sleepy eyes to where the sounds were coming from. Her roommates were all awake already wearing their dresses. Hairs in messy ponytails and braids. It was a Sunday morning and Angels' Hope Orphanage will be holding a mass that day. It was already seven in the morning, mass would start at eight. She still had enough time.

She took her towel and her own dress to change into but before she even made it to the door someone pushed her and she fell completely on her knees. The children in the room all laughed at her. Hailey's knees hurt but she fought back her tears and continued to the bathroom to wash up. The other children have always been mean to her, not all but most of them. Some are nice but they seldomly spoke to her.

The nuns in the orphanage were all nice to her but she never once told them about her situation. She was afraid that if she did, the other children would hurt her even more. All she had was her teddy bear which she calls 'Teddy', she claimed it was a male. Teddy's the only thing Hailey has, it was given by her mother on her 5th birthday. The same day she was sent to the orphanage.

Hailey made it just in time for the mass to start. The pavilion was already full of nuns and children. The front seats were already full and she was only too glad that she didn't have to sit with the other children. She sat beside Sister Agnes-her most favorite nun of all.

"Good morning, Hailey." Sister Agnes said with a generously wide smile.

"Good morning, Sister Agnes." Hailey said back with an equally wide smile. Her tiny dimples showed on the edge of her lips. She sat beside the kind nun as the mass finally started.

Everyday, Hailey will always pray that someone would finally adopt her. A family that would give her all the love, the ones who would take her away from the orphanage. Nothing's so fun about the orphanage other than the nuns who were all just so nice to her. Hailey considered them as her only family now and the rest of the orphanage was a nightmare for her.

Hailey thought about her own mother still more often. It had already been a year since she left her on the footsteps of the orphanage while it rained. Sister Agnes was horrified when she saw her soaked. For the first few months Hailey had her hopes up that her mother would return for her but as the months passed by, her hopes became little and little until there was nothing left.

And on that Sunday morning of November, she prayed for the same thing... a family.

The mass finally ended and breakfast was served shortly. Each of them got their pancakes and a glass of milk. Sister Agnes scanned the children and she smiled when she saw Hailey sitting by the edge of the table not too far from her. The nun stared at the child for a moment, admiring her beauty and kind heart. She knew how the others treated her and she felt pity for the child. Being abondoned by her own mother was already too much and Sister Agnes only wished she could do more for her.

Hailey finished her pancake and took the last sip of milk before leaving the table. The other children all ran to the playground and Hailey followed. She was one of the youngest and smallest too which made it difficult for her to pass through the other children who were much taller and bigger than her.

She made it to the playground. She just sat there on one of the benches as she placed 'Teddy' beside her. It was just another ordinary day for her. It was always like this, she would sit alone and wait for someone to at least talk to her or play and when someone does, it would only last for a short time.
