Jungkook comes to to a warm, firm hand shaking his shoulder. Grunting, he pulls up his arms and buries his face from the growing sunlight filtering in through the windows high above.
"Bro, you've got to get up. Everyone's starting to come in and we have to find this guy. I know it's your day off and all but what with this case, you knew last week you weren't going to get it. So get off your lazy ass so at least one of us will be working."
Jungkook raises a sleepy head and glares at his partner through barely open lids, "Fuck off, Gunter. Do your own damn work for once."
The rolling laughter causes a smile to come onto Jungkook's sleepy features. He sits up reluctantly and pours the remaining coffee from the pot into his mug. Gunter takes the pot from Jungkook's hand before he can even begin to stand, "I have to check in with someone anyways."
Jungkook shuffles the papers around on his desk. To hid his smirk, he keeps his face in his mug, "You know she's much too young for you old man. Find someone a little more haggard. Take Muriel for example."
At the mention of the seventy year old secretary with pure white hair, Gunter mock gagged. His face pinches in disgust, "I'm not that old you know. Barely forty, you youngster!"
A well timed sip causes Gunter to shift on his heels. Jungkook takes this break to relax his features already knowing the rise he's going to get out of this, "Ok, Gunter. I suppose I'm allowed to say that I don't like your motorcyle, then."
Gunter gasps in true horror, "How could you insult her! You monster! You need to respect your elders!!!!" The shrillness of Gunter's voice breaks Jungkook's strength and a shit-eating grin crawls onto his face.
"Ok, old man. It's because of how flashy she is. An ancient rock like you shouldn't be driving her. You need someone much younger and prettier to take care of her." His smirk made more obvious what is already clear.
"You think you could handle her? She's worth more than your pinky toe, child. Try again." Gunter huffs as he takes to coffee pot back to the breakroom leaving a chuckling Jungkook swivelling in his chair.
Finally calming down, Jungkook plants his feet firmly on the ground pulling his seat under the desk. Shuffling through the papers from last night, he realizes how tired he'd been. There are a few pages that trail off in nothings and others with uninteligable scribbles fit for the proudest doctor. Shaking his head, Jungkook discards these and puts the remaining ones in a new folder from his bottom drawer. It had been needing an oiling for weeks now. It has gotten so loud he almost misses the phone call coming through his cell. Snatching it quickly and sliding it to answer a split second before he misses it, he puts it to his ear, "Jeon Jungkook speaking. How can I help you?"
"Hi," the gently lilting voice says through the phone. "It's Park Jimin. Your accountant shifted your membership to me when he retired. I called you last week and we set up a meeting for this morning at eight a.m. As it's already ten, I was hoping to catch you..." Jimin's voice is mildly timid as if he isn't sure of himself yet.
"Yah! I totally forgot! I got a huge case going on right now so it totally slipped my mind. I'm so sorry. I'm not sure how much longer this case will last but we can reschedule at your convience and I'll make sure to get my partner to cover for me."
Speaking of the devil, Gunter reappears and cocks his head at the mention of him. Pulling the speaker from his mouth, Jungkook covers the reciever and whispers to his partner, "Yeah I was talking about you, you lazy bum. I swear you're hypersensitive to any mention of you."
"Stop being a pest and focus on your call, little boy," Gunter retorts scowling down at Jungkook playfully.
Jimin's voice calls Jungkook back to the phone call in hand before he can come up with a snarky response, "You have to eat lunch at some point and my schedule is clear so we could meet up and discuss over lunch, if you don't already have plans or anything."
