Monday morning came quickly and i groaned when Ryland jumped on my bed.
"Wake up baby sis. It's your last first day in high school."
I threw my pillow at him as he ran out of my room. I groaned as i got up and stretched. I shoved the covers off of me and went to find and out fit. I picked out ripped dark wash capris and a cute cold shoulder floral top with a pair of tan sandals.
I hopped in the shower and washed away the weekend. I got out and dried off and did my make up with my hair in a towel. I scrunched my hair to make my natural curls stand out and then put on my outfit. Max was laying on my bed and i kissed his nose and let him lay there.
I jogged down the stairs and Ryland and the boys were cooking breakfast. I sat down at the island and Ryland set a plate of peanut butter waffles infront of me.
"For the first day of school tradition."
I smiled as i dug into them. Every first and last day of school the boys would cook up a big breakfast. On other mornings i would just grab an apple or something after my morning run. I decided to skip it this morning since i haven't gotten a lot of sleep from the craziness this past weekend.
"Is it your week to drive?"
I nodded. Mia and i alternated weeks of driving each other since she lived a mile away from me.
"Yea i told her i would pick her up at 7:40"
We had to be at school by 8 am. Every morning we would drop and get coffee and then head to school. It was currently 7:20 so i still had a few minutes with the boys.
"How did that shipment go?"
Ben winked. "We always got it covered little R baby."
I rolled my eyes and shoved some more food in my mouth. "What do you really think happened to Walker?"
Ryland sighed and rand his hand through his hair. "I think someone is targeting us. Problem is i have no idea who."
I finished my plate and stuck it in the dish washer. "Just please be careful boys."
They all smiled but Ryland responded. "We always will. It's just a job we have to do."
I nodded and grabbed my book bag off the bench by the door. "I'm going to school. Love ya, bye."
I walked to the door that led to the garage and walked inside. My truck was parked on the end and i opened the garage door. I jumped in my truck, started it, and pulled out of the garage and pressed the button to close it behind me.
I drove the mile to Mia's house and pulled into her drive way. She lived in a gorgeous 2 story white house with a porch swing on the matching white porch. It was the perfect example of a cookie cutter home. She hopped in the truck and tossed her bag in the middle.
"I'm so fucking tired."
I laughed. "This is your last year girlie. Then we'll head off to college and hook up with random frat boys."
She turned on music while i pulled into the starbucks parking lot to get us coffees. We quickly ran in and got two iced coffees and then headed on to school.
My parking spot was in between Mia's and Ethan's. Ethan was leaning against his white gmc. He smiled as i hopped out of my truck and Mia followed quickly behind.
"Hey pretty ladies. Are you ready for the last first day of hell?"
I groaned as i locked the truck and stepped on the sidewalk. "I legit want to go home."
He chuckled and got in between Mia and I. "Well ladies, let the day begin."
..............
I plopped down at our table in the library that we always sat and ate at. "Can this day go by any slower?"
Mia laughed as she sat down beside me and Ethan sat down on the other side of me. Jeremy, another red head friend of ours, sat across from me.
"Don't forget we have cheerleading tryouts after school everyday this week."
Mia was captain of the cheer squad and i was co captain. So every year when tryouts came around we would pick new cheer members and this year we would also be picking the people who would take our places as this is our senior year.
I sipped on my water. "I wonder who is trying out."
Mia shoveled her pizza in her mouth. "I heard stupid bitch ass Stella Payne is trying out."
I groaned. "She trapped Damon in her spell too."
Mia smirked. "Some one isn't to happy about that now is she?"
I rolled my eyes and took another bite of my turkey sandwich. "Whatever."
...........
I got out of practice at 6:30 to see Ryland was leaning against my car. He gave me a small smile. "Let's go on an adventure R baby."
I smiled and tossed my bags in my truck and followed him to his car. I hopped into the passenger seat and buckled up as he drove to the cliffs. I rolled my eyes as he parked at the opening of the trail that we had made.
He leaned over in the back seat and handed me one of his tee shirts as i was just in a sports bra and shorts. I shrugged it on and opened the door and followed behind Ryland up the trail.
When we reached the top i smiled at the view. The lake was 20 feet below. We used to jump off the cliff a lot over the summer.
We sat on the edge of the cliff with our legs dangling over the side. He pulled out a liquor bottle that hid behind a rock and passed it to me. I took a sip and passed it back to him.
"What was mom like?"
He took a gulp and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. " She was beautiful. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes, we obviously didn't get any of those genes."
I shook my head. "So i'm guessing we look like dad?"
He nodded. "Yes we look like Charlie. Somedays he wasn't all bad. He taught me how to shoot a gun and how to fight and protect myself. Little did i know what he was training me to do."
He took another gulp and passed the bottle back to me. "Mom knew what he had planned and tried to stop him but he wouldn't have that obviously. She tried everything she could Raine, she loved him. In a way i hate her because she didn't love us enough to leave him."
I took a sip and looked across the lake. "Her million dollar man."
