Stupid Stella Payne made the cheerleading team and was currently bugging the crap out of me at practice.
Mia had come up with a difficult routine that we had to perfect for homecoming in just a few short months away.
We landed the last jump and i put my hands on my hips panting. We had been practicing for two hours and i was exhausted.
Mia clapped her hands together. "Alright everyone, that's it for today see you tomorrow."
I grabbed my water bottle out of my bag that was sitting on the bench. We practiced on the edge of the football field while the boys were practicing. Ethan was busy running plays.
I plopped down on the bench and Mia sat next to me. I took a sip of my water bottle.
"Can i ask you something?"
I nodded. "Of course you can."
"Why didn't you and Ethan ever become a thing? I mean you are obviously comfortable with him and you two have been inseparable for forever."
I looked on the field and watched Ethan. His tall frame bounced around the field yelling plays and setting up drills.
"Because at the end of the day there isn't a spark. There is no passion or love. And that isn't something i want."
We parted ways and i walked to my truck. I threw my bags into the bed and unlocked the door.
"Raine!"
I turned around to see Damon jogging towards me in his uniform.
I leaned against the truck door with my arms crossed over my chest.
He stopped infront of me and places a smile on his face. "How are your friends doing?"
I shrugged. "They are doing okay i guess. I heard Walker's girlfriend still hasn't came back to school. The rest of us just keep moving on."
He nodded. "Look i just wanted to say be careful. There has been a lot of violence in a town an hour from here and we just want to keep you guys safe."
I put my hand on the truck door handle. "Thanks Officer Blue, but i think we can handle it."
I hopped in my car and pulled out as i saw Stella put her hand on Damon's arm.
.....................
It was Currently friday night and Mia and i were walking to our cars with our pom poms. We had just finished cheering the game that our team had won.
"Wanna get ready at my place?"
I smiled. "Let's do it sis. Ry has been acting weird about us leaving town."
She rolled her eyes. "That stupid officer Blue probably got into his head."
I rolled my eyes and got in my car. I followed her to her house and smiled when we pulled into the driveway. Her parents were sitting on the porch swing with a bottle of wine between them.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and followed Mia up the steps. Her parents giggled. "Hey kids, any fun plans for tonight?"
I smiled. "Just a small party Mrs. Amy.". I had been coming over here since i was 2, they wouldn't let me call them anything else but their first names.
Mia's dad laughed. "You two be careful and be back by 2 am."
I smiled and looped my arm through Mia's. "Not a second later Mr. Charles."
We went inside and jogged up the stairs before they asked anymore questions. I threw my bag in the corner and picked up Mia's cat Tiger. I picked him up and curled up with him on Mia's bed.
