I woke up at 6am to go on my morning run. I changed into a sports bra and black compression shorts with a long sleeved white shirt. I laced up my pink and white tennis shoes and grabbed my phone and headphones.

I tossed my hair in a messy pony tail and jogged down the stairs. All 3 boys were knocked on the couch and i quietly exited the house.

We lived out of town a little ways and it was a 20 minute run to town. Which happened to become my usual running route.

I hopped in place, warming up my muscles for a tiring run. I turned on my music and slowly started jogging, to get me in the zone.

I jogged down the driveway and on the side of the road to town. I was changing the song when i bummed in to something hard.

I took the head phones out of my ears. "I'm so sorry i wasn't paying attention."

I looked up to the the only guy that knocked me off my ass. Damon was wearing black basket ball shorts and a white muscle shirt.

He smirked. "So she knows how to use the word "sorry"?"

I shrugged. "Don't get used to it."

He chuckled. "I'm not. What are you doing this early?"

I rolled my eyes. "I like to go running. I'm guessing your doing the same thing?"

He nodded. "I'm about to go to the diner for breakfast. Do you want to come?"

I looked at him weirdly. "What do you want?"

He rolled his eyes. "It's a free meal. Besides i'm new here and i don't know what's good."

I shrugged. " Fine but don't expect anything out of it."

He smirked. "Obviously not."

We walked side by side into the diner and i smiled to see Mia was working. I took my place at the counter and Damon sat down beside me.

Mia looked at us shockingly and i rolled my eyes. "He wanted to know what's best on the menu and i suggested the chocolate chip waffles."

She nodded. "You pull a double tomorrow don't you?"

I sighed. "Unfortunately."

She chuckled. "It's not like you have to work here. Your good on money for the rest of your life."

I glared."You know i like my job."

Damon snorted. "What do you mean she is good on money?"

I glared. "Family business."

He glared back and i ordered a chicken biscuit and a vanilla mocha. The diner wasn't busy at all first thing in the mornings so Mia sat with us and talked.

Damon smirked at her. "How was that party the other night?"

She rolled her eyes. "I had a blast. Thanks for kidnapping my friend."

He glared. "If it weren't for me she would have been arrested so great job."

I glared at him. "I would have been fine, no thanks to you."

I stood up and exited the restaurant. I put my headphones in my ears and took off running toward the house. I sprinted the whole way and was completely winded when i made it to the front steps.

Ben was sitting on the counter eating cereal. "Morning run?"

He had cereal on his face and his mouth was full. I smiled. "Sure did."

He nodded and i jogged upstairs and took a shower. I dried off and pulled on jeans and a tee shirt. I walked to Ryland's room and saw that he was still sleeping.

I plopped down on his bed and he jolted awake. He glared when he saw me but ruffled my hair anyway. "Good morning kid."

I sighed and closed my eyes. "Nice to see you too brother dearest."

He rolled his eyes. "Back from your morning run i see."

I shrugged. "I ran into some asshole cop but sure it was great."

He chuckled. "I'm guessing it's the new one?"

I shook my head. "He may be an asshole but he sure is fine."

He looked at me serious. "He's the enemy Rain. We aren't cut from the same cloth as him. You know it could never work out. He would destroy us."

I just looked back with and unreadable expression. "I know Ry. I know."

.....................

I was exhausted after a double at the diner on a Sunday. With the church crowd and family lunches/ dinners, it was busy as shit. But that did mean i racked up on tips.

I was sweeping the floors when the bell on the door chimed. "I'm sorry, but we are closed."

I heard chuckling. "I know."

I looked up and saw Damon standing in his uniform with his hands crossed over his chest.

I swept up a pile and threw it in the trash. "What are you doing here?"

He shrugged and gave a sexy ass smirk. "I just started my shift and figured i would swing by."

The cook for the night nodded at me and turned the lights off in the back. He wasn't much of a talker but i had been working there long enough to know that meant he was done for the night and leaving.

Damon sat on the barstool while i straightened all the tables and restocked. Once i was done he left with me following behind him, locking the door.

"I have your clothes."

I crossed my arms over my chest. "Thank you by the way. My brother would have killed me if i was arrested."

He chuckled and opened the passenger side door to grab my clothes. He handed them to me and i shoved them into my bag.

"It's fine Rainy. What about your parents?"

I shrugged. "They died a long time ago."

He leaned against his car. "I'm sorry about that."

I sighed. "It's fine. My dad was a dick anyway."

He nodded. "And your mom?"

I gave a small smile. "She loved him and in the end it killed her."

"I'm sorry."

I nodded. "I never really knew them so it doesn't matter."

He gave a small smile. "They are still your parents Rainy. It still sucks either way."

I shrugged. "Maybe so."

I looked at him, trying to figure him out. His Black hair was messy from where he had been running his hands through it. He uniform fit snug and showed off his muscles and tattoos. He was the definition of a sexy barrel chested freedom fighter.

He smirked. "Staring much?"

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever Officer Blue."

He stepped close to me where my chest was up against his. his dark eyes searched mine and he brushed the bangs out of my face.

"Your not the only one that's needs figuring out."

Right then i knew i was in trouble.
