"if you don't mind me asking, why is she agent jones and he's agent x?"-
fury's lips pursed into a fine line. "agent x would rather keep his identity hidden, even from the most secretive co-workers here at SHIELD. the only ones who know him are myself and agent jones." he explained, looking over to the black clad boy.
peter only nodded, making fury sigh. the director quickly turned back to the avengers. "you will be observing them from the observation deck. if you'd follow me..."
fury's voice faded off as him and the avengers walked into a stairwell, the door clicking shut behind them. peter turned towards michelle and the two began to stroll over to the center of the room. they backed up against each other, hands ready and minds set.
once fury and the avengers reached the observation deck, the director of SHEILD hit a red button, and the simulation began. the screened-walls began to morph into scenery, and make-shift buildings rose from the floor.
"this is sick..." clint whispered to bucky, who just shook his head.
"quiet, barton." the super-solider commanded, elbowing his comrade in the ribs. clint whined silently before fixating his attention back on the two people who were in the large training area.
peter's eyes quickly flickered around the simulation arena, scoping out its vantage points. michelle's gaze landed on the robots dashing out of the building and heading towards them at alarming rates. she immediately grabbed her twin rifles and aimed them, a multitude of bullets spraying out. they nailed eight bots right between the "eyes."
peter unsheathed his twin katanas and ran at inhumanly speeds towards a group of bots, slicing their metal heads off in one swift motion. his eyes darted back and forth at the incoming threats, and he went into overdrive mode, blocking out anything and everything besides his targets. that's one of the dangerous things about him; HYDRA turned the boy into a killing machine, his mind shutting down and his body would take over.
black colored his striking brown eyes, the pupil turning a blood red. venom, /his alter ego/ was going on a rampage, taking out bots in large quantities all at once. the avengers watched on with wide eyes as the black clad boy scaled the bricks of the buildings with his bare hands, ripping off bots' heads.
"what... what is he?" steve stuttered out, eyeing the mysterious assassin closely. fury sighed.
"that..." he began. "...that is venom. agent x's alter ego that was put in him when he was captured by HYDRA when he was eleven years old. it's sort of like his, "escape" of reality, and venom takes over for a lot of the fights he gets involved in."
steve cleared his throat. "you said he was captured by HYDRA? when he was a kid?" he asked weakly. fury gave a slight nod.
"yes, i did say that, captain rogers. now, if you'd avert you attention back to the stimulation..."
the scenario had been going on for about seven minutes now, and sweat was beginning to drip down michelle's forehead. she took a heaving breath before ripping the face off of the last bot that was near her.
peter was long finished, and was perched on top of the make-shift building and hidden in the shadows. his eyes had turned back to their gorgeous hazel-brown and were shining with masked pain in the dark. only bucky, michelle and fury were able to notice this, and immediately felt bad for he boy.
fury shut the simulation off and led the avengers back into the training area, where michelle met them, folding her hands behind her back.
"agent x, you can come down now!" fury said, looking up at the teenage assassin. peter stood and catapulted himself off the building's edge, plummeting towards the ground. everyone thought (besides michelle and fury) that he was going to die.
"oh my god!" wanda gasped as the boy free-fell. what no one was expecting was for him to silently collide with the floor, crouched down, his palms laid flat against the ground. he quietly stood and moved next to michelle.
"excellent work here today, agents," fury stated, a smile tugging at his lips. "you can both have the rest of the day off, but agent x, please get some rest. i get alerted once you fall asleep, and i haven't gotten any notifications in seven days."
peter gave a slight nod before turning his attention towards the ground, his posture faltering for less than a millisecond before being fixed. fury gave the hand signaling they were dismissed, and the two bolted out of there.
once they were long gone, fury took a heaving breath and turned to the avengers with a sigh.
"you all must have a workload of questions. shall we?"
