Ariana's P.O.V

Piper and I slowly walked, hand in hand to my car. I took her small suitcase that even to my pint-sized self felt light and opened the passenger door for her. I slowly walked around to the backseat and gently placed her suitcase on the leather seat as I hummed my song, "Bang Bang".

Finally , I skipped over to the driver's side and buckled my seatbelt before I sat in utter silence. My gaze shifted from straight ahead to Piper. Piper's whole upper body was drenched and she smelled like Mother Nature and Father Nature's baby. Piper shifted uncomfortably as she finally made eye contact to me. I saw a tint of fear in her eye but, I knew she was just a little nervous.

"Why?" , she asked me it of the blue. My smile dropped as I saw fresh tears form in her beautiful eyes. I am beyond confused. Was she talking about why I adopted her? No, she can't leave. I wanted to care for her and see what's hidden behind her façade that she tried too hard to pull off. I squeezed back a few tears of hurt before putting on a dumb act.

"Why what"

"Why did you adopt me?", she said in a more serious tone. Oh, Piper....Such a strange girl. If a celebrity like me adopts your or even kidnaps you, you say nothing and go along with it! I laughed in my head before a serious question popped up into my mind. Does Piper even know I'm a celebrity? I mean, sure she knows I'm in a show and like to sing and act but, I wonder if she knows I am a proffesional singer..? I was going to have to deal with that later.

" I'll tell you that once you tell me why you are wet?"

I observed Piper from the corner of my eye as the words spilt out of my mouth . Her gaze fell to her tiny hands and her right leg began to twitch. A felt a small a,punt of guilt arise in my stomach as I saw how uncomfortable I was making her but, isn't that what mothers are for?

"I-I washed my hair when I was taking my shower", she slowly said as she played with the loose thread on her shirt. I smelt the lie . I tasted the lie. Heck, the lie was so strong, I basically could touch it.

" Then, why do you smell like a nature freak and have pudding on your chest ?" , I asked as I eyed the brown substance peaking out of her worn out shirt. As soon as she was settled in, I was going to buy her a brand new wardrobe since I already saw her in this shirt. I smiled at the thought of buying her whatever she wanted whenever I had the chance. Yeah, I would be that type of mom.

" It's not pudding..It's mud", she said out loud before slapping her hand in front of her mouth. I smiled as I realized she was bound to spill what was up now.

Gotcha.

"Spill.Now.", I commanded as I turned the a/c on low. We were still in front of the orphanage even though ten minutes have past. Since no paparazzi were present, it was okay and safe. As I adjusted the strap on my dress, I noticed clear drops falling from Piper's eyes. She was crying. I mentally panicked considering this was the first time I have seen her cry while at the same time cheering at the fact she was comfortable to cry in front of me. I shifted towards her and placed my right hand on her hand to comfort her while using my left hand to hold her chin up. For a brief moment, we both stared into each other's eyes and I instantly shared the pain she shared. I just needed to know why now.

" You can't tell", Piper barely whispered as I slowly nodded my head.

" When I got back to the orphanage, Violet and two other girls pushed my head into the toilet and they pushed me down. They t-told me that you don't care about me yesterday and that...I'm unwanted". I sat there in utter shock. These girls were barely teenagers yet, had so many bad things to say to innocent Piper.I watched as Piper's head dropped down to her lap as if it were weightless. The silent, yet violent sobs escaped her body and caused her to shake. I instantly rubbed round circles and a few heart patterns into her back to try to calm her down. At first, I felt her tense up but, after the fifth rub, her sobs became little and weak. It was only now I realized I really didn't know Piper. The two times I talked to her, I saw a non-chalant and go with the flow girl who had a few haters. Well, this wasn't the case. I now see that Piper is like an Oreo dipped in milk. She can easily be broken even though it looks like she once had a strong appearance.

After five minutes, Piper's sobs turned into slow breaths that signaled she was asleep. I wiped a strand of hair away from her face before I placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Finally, I pushed my key in the engine and began the drive back to my- our house.

We arrived in twenty minutes flat. Piper's head was limp and leaned on the window with her eyes closed shut. I smiled at the view. She looked so peaceful and just, pretty. I couldn't wake her up but, I couldn't just leave her in the car. I could only imagine the headlines that would cause. I finally made the decision to lift her into the house. I ran around to the backseat and grabbed her tiny suitcase and rolled it to the front door of her new home. Before I knew it, the front door was wide open and I rolled Piper's suitcase next to my fireplace. The sound of my footsteps filled the air as I tried to quietly make my way towards my silver car. Once I finally reached my destination, I wrapped one hand under Piper's knees while the other was just above her back. I lifted her up, bridal style and slowly shut the door in order to not wake her up . Together, we made our way back into the house.

I couldn't help but notice how light Piper felt. A bowling ball felt heavier compared to this svelte girl. The poor thing probably wasn't pushed to eat full and nutritional meals at that orphanage. Maybe she starved herself? Maybe she has a bunch of food allergies that made her not eat much? What was the deal? I sighed in confusion as I gently laid Piper on the baby blue plush davenport I had. I wanted to see her reaction of her room when she saw it for the first time so for now, couch time for her! A smile appeared on my face as I reached in my purse for my phone. I reached farther in my purse until I felt the unique plastic shape I recognized to be as my french fries phone case.i quickly slid the camera button up on my Iphone and snapped about five photos of my new angel sleeping on the couch. She was a keeper. I felt that Grandpa Frank sent her down to supply me eternal happiness and just to bring a smile to both of our faces . A tear waltzed down my cheeks as I yearned to spend just one more day with him. This was his gift to me and I knew it.

My eyes adjusted back to the room's light as I was kidnapped from my thoughts. A small sound was produced from my Iphone and told me that the picture of my daughter was sent to my mom. That sentence sounded beautiful. A smile was taped to my face as I grabbed a manila folder from my purse. It was Piper's file and information that the orphanage had collected over the years she has been there. It was like an instruction manual for Piper. I flipped open the folder and read the first page that stuck out.

Piper Brown

D.O.B- April 27,2002

Birthmother: Jessica Brown

Birthfather: Michael Brown

Date Upon entering Girls United:July 6,2010

Reason Upon entering Girls United:Abusive parents & unfit living environment

Piper use to be abused? A frown formed on my face as I closed the folder and pushed it further away from me. Although I had all the information I needed right in front of me, it meant nothing when it didn't come from Piper. I decided that if I wanted to be a good mother and have a close connection to Piper, I would learn everything I needed to know about her from her.
