(A little filler chapter to gain some interesting info)
Cold, little wet drops landed on my body as I stayed laying down on the grass, staring up at the grey clouds that rained gently down to the surface of the Earth. "Maddy, why all alone here?" I heard a familiar voice say as I looked over to my right. "It's calm and the clouds are pretty and I love the rain, you already know this Heath." I giggled, my little hands hidden in my sleeves covering my mouth softly. "You're right, but you know I like this too Maddy. It's no fun when its just you alone." He laid down next to my little figure, being as long as my body was now. Heath, my best friend forever!
"It's almost your birthday Maddy, you'll be 6 years old! You'll be as old as me, can you believe it?" Heath reminded me as I pouted, "I don't want to get older, older people aren't as fun as they were before when they were younger."
"I know Maddy, but you have me. It'll be different, I pinky promise you," He grabbed my little hand and linked our baby pinkies together in the promise as I smiled. "We should get home, our mommy's will freak out if we get home late and soaked." I sighed and nodded in agreement. We got up from the grass and left our secret clearing in the woods together. As we reached the edge of the woods, we hugged, "I'll see you tomorrow Maddy," Heath told me. "Promise me? I can't have a happy birthday without you, Heath!" I pouted in his shoulder, still holding onto my best friend, "Yes Maddy Bear, I promise." we pulled away and he kissed my cheek. I waved at him as we went opposite ways to our homes.
I thought we would be best friends forever.......but he was taken away from me......
I felt a warm hand softly caressing my cheek as I felt a damp touch left behind. I opened my eyes to find Heathen, "Madeline, why were you crying?" I looked into his grey eyes and felt something in my chest tingle, "Heath?..." I asked in a whisper. His hand stopped caressing my cheek as he pulled it away, his hand returning back to his side, "What did you call me?" He asked softly.
"Heath...as in my childhood best friend Heath?" I asked again, sitting up from my comfortable position and fully faced him, "How...how did you know?" He asked, "It was cloudy..we were laying down on grass in a clearing in the woods...I was 5 and it was going to be my birthday..you promised me you'll be there but...but you never appeared the next day.." I recalled the dream to him, my eyes filling up with tears as he sighed and sat up, "I'm sorry I broke our promise Maddy Bear..." He said in a low whisper. I felt tears spill out of my eyes, running down my face, "So it wasn't a dream, it was a memory..what happened? Why didn't you come?..Why did you abandon me?" I questioned him as he leaned closer to my side and hugged me.
"Maddy...I didn't come because...because I was killed," he stopped for a second as I sat up facing him, waiting for an explanation, "I was on my way to your house..I was already dressed, just waiting for my mom to finish. I had your present ready and everything Maddy. As I sat waiting for mom, someone knocked on the door...it was a stupid mistake to go and answer it..." he took a deep breath before continuing, "It was a random guy, he asked for a donation...and when I had my back turned to go get something, he grabbed me and covered my mouth in a cloth...I woke up in the trunk of a car that smelled like piss and shit...Once I felt the car stop, I acted as if I was still asleep; I heard the guy getting out and he opened the trunk..I remember my little pocket knife my father had given to me as a birthday gift in my pocket and once the trunk opened, I opened my knife and started slashing everywhere...I managed to cut him up a bit but I was only 6...he got a grip on my wrists and twisted them...the rest, well, I tried blocking it out but I know it wasn't pretty...I was left in the middle of nowhere unconscious, beaten black and blue...I was bleeding to death from cuts and from some of whatever that man used...I was left to die, and I did.."
By now, Heathen was crying from what he was telling me, I leaned into his arms, allowing him to hug me, "I'm only alive now because Evelyn found my body...she took me and brought me here, fixed me up with what she's capable of, and well raised me.." He looked at me as he hugged me tightly, "But never once did I forget about you Maddy Bear, you're still my best friend, and believe it or not..I managed to find and keep the present I was going to give you." He stood up and walked out of my bedroom door, just to return a minute later with something behind his back.
"Close your eyes, Madeline." I did as told and felt a soft thing sit on my lap, "Open them," he said and I did. I came face to face with a white, a little bit dusty bear with dark blue orbs for eyes and little bowtie, "You got me a little bear," I looked up at him, taking the bear into my arms, "Well yea since you were Maddy Bear to me." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly chuckling at me. I got up and hugged him as he hugged me back, "Thank you Heath."
He chuckled and patted my head, "Anything for you Maddy Bear. Hey, we were supposed to meet with Evelyn a while ago so let's get going." He grabbed my hand and we both left my room with Scar following behind.
