October 5th, 1999.

“Oh come on Kellin, tell me her name!” My mom kept bugging. She’s been trying to get me to spill who my crush is on. I’m thirteen, I just started the whole dating thing, she could’ve waited a little longer.

“Mom! I’m not telling you!” I laugh. She always loved being in my business. I basically told her everything.

She smirks and sits on my bed, “Can I ask something, Kells?” Oh no. She only says ‘Kells’ when it’s something serious.

I look at her, curious yet scared, and nod, “Sure..?”

She smiles a little and sighs, “Is it even a girl?”

I froze in my place. And just by that she knew, “Oh Kellin! Who is it! Is it one of your friends? Oh we have to bring him over so I can meet him!” She squeals.

“Mom wait! He’s not even bisexual. It’s no use.” I frown and sit beside her on the bed.

She frowns and scoots closer to me, “Kellin. It’s okay. And you never know, he could be bisexual.”

I frown and look at her, “What am I going to tell dad? He can’t know about this mom, please, please, please don’t tell him. He will kill me!” I frown. My dad never liked gays. I’m terrified he’ll find out and never speak to me again.

My mother sighs and looks at me, “Kellin, no matter what we will love you anyways. Even if that means you are gay. I cannot wait to meet your future husband, or wife.” She smiles and kisses my head.

God I love her. She was probably the best mom ever.

February 14th, 2000.

“Mom please don’t embarrass me. This means a lot to me. This is the first time you’re meeting him and I want it to be perfect. Please, please, please, be nice.” She just laughs and nods.

“I cannot wait to finally meet him.”

My boyfriend is coming over tonight to finally meet my mom. He’s seen her in video chat, but not in person. My dad is out of town this weekend, due to work. It is a good thing because he certainly hates gays even more. I am happy because I really want my mom to meet him, even though she already says he seems like a nice boy.

I make sure everything is perfect before I actually relax. My mom I guess knows my tension and laughs, “Kellin, calm down. It’s okay. We’ve talked thousands of times on video chat whenever you had to do something.” She smiles and sits down beside me.

I heard a knock on the door, this is it. I’m literally about to throw up. I’m so nervous God kill me now. As I make my way to the door, I figure out what I’m going to say to him. God I hope this works.

I open the door and smile, “Matty.. Hi.” I smile, taking in his cuteness.

“Kellin.. Hi.” He laughs back. I let him in and walk him into the dining room.

My mother smiles and rushes towards us, “Matty! It’s you! Oh I can’t believe I’m actually meeting you! Kellin talks about you all the time!” She squeals and I give her a ‘mom, stop’ look. She gets the memo and smiles, “Sit, sit. I’ll go get the food.” She smiles and walks into the kitchen.

I take a seat next to Matty and smile, ‘Sorry about her. She’s just happy.” He laughs and shakes his head.

“She’s nice. I like her just as much as I like you.” He smiles and takes my hand. I can’t help but blush. He’s so amazing. I just love his hair. The auburn mixed with a little orange is very, very cute.
