Julee
-Friday-
"Ms. Clark, are you paying attention?" Mrs. Waters spoke. I was lost in thoughts.
"MS. CLARK!" the teacher yells as she snaps her ruler on my desk. I jump out of my skin. I didn't notice at all what was going on around me. Everybody was getting around the room, getting to the computers at the back of the room to start typing your essays on the Black Death.
"Yes, Ma'am?" I say, clueless. She bends over to talk to me.
"Don't be smart now, Julee. You need to be serious about this essay. It costs you 30% of your overall grade for this semester." she lectures. "You can't just look out the window all day and just have your pencil work for you."
"I'm sure it can try." I throw back. I have more things to worry about besides homework. I have a life outside of the brick walls of this prison.
"Alright, missy. One more mouth off, and you're going to the office. It's bad enough that you're failing ALL of your classes." Mrs. Waters scolds.
"Except music." I've loved music ever since I can remember. I've been playing trumpet for years, and I've gotten into the guitar and piano. I just want to have the skills, so someone will notice me and appreciate my hard work.
"That's it, Julee. Come with me. We don't need your smart mouth around here." Mrs. Waters speaks as she grabs hold of my arm to pull me out of the classroom. She tells the assistant teacher to watch the class, and we continue walking towards the office.
"Gosh, I'm getting to the office a little later than usual, huh?" I joke as I wave to a friend walking down the hall.
"Shut your mouth." She bites. Geez, she must be on her mensies or something.
We get to the office, and she swings me into a seat. She tells the secretary that we need to talk to the principal. Luckily, he was in a meeting, and school was only about five minutes from finishing for the week. I pray that the meeting just started, so I can get out of trouble.
After waiting those five minutes, the bell rings, and I start to walk out of the office. I felt a hand grab the hood of my hoodie and pull me back to the seat I was in.
"Not so fast Ms. Clark. Look who's coming right now." Mrs. Waters says with a smirk. Mr. Lyons, the principal, just walked through the door, and into his office. Mrs. Waters kept me where I stood, and started walking me to Mr. Lyons's door.
Just as we get there, the door slams in Mrs. Waters' face. I try not to burst out laughing, but I couldn't help it. He basically hit her with the door. When Mr. Lyons closes his door, he doesn't want to be disturbed; especially by Mrs. Waters. They're basically enemies. She starts to frown, then she turns to me with a death stare.
"Next time, Ms. Clark. Next time I'll get you." storming off. I smile, and skip out of the office with a gigantic smile on my face.
"Time to go home." I say to myself. I walk to my locker, and grab my backpack. "Shit, I forgot my stuff." I start to walk back to her room, but I just lucked out. My friend, Mariah grabbed my stuff for me.
"Thank you so much. I owe you one." I tell Mariah.
"No need for it. I only saved your life." She said sarcastically. I give her the look that says that I don't care. Mariah and I walk home together, since we're neighbors.
