Chapter II
Nashi POV
The night air fell heavy on the once happy Magnolia. Mira would tell us stories of how the town use to be so lively, and every person on the streets was a friend. Now, I don't know what to call them.
An old woman glared right through me as I passed by. That was the normal treatment to anyone nowadays. No one knew that if the person standing next to them was a normal person or a wizard. I was one to talk. When that woman's eyes looked at me, I felt like my secret was out, and everything everyone at Fairy Hills was working for was gone, but the woman turned her head away and kept walking. I could feel the sigh escape my lips.
The rest of the town stood on edge. The streets were surrounded in silence unlike how it suppose to be. I shook my head in shame at the sight of it. Maybe Nalu was right. Maybe there really was nothing out here for me. A grin creeped its way on my face. I knew better there was somewhere I felt somewhat at ease.
I walked my way to the very place that use to be the pride of Magnolia. There was nothing there except for an enormous pile of rubble from a building, and it was never cleared away. I stepped over the rope that marked the place as restricted. For some reason, it felt almost like home.
The pebbles and rocks crunched under my feet. Whatever had stood there must have been pretty large. My eyes caught the look of something orange. I scrambled on top of the ruins just to get a glimpse of what it was. A small corner was just sticking out with the rest buried underneath. My hands clutched it and began to pull.
It was under there pretty good. It almost wouldn't budge, but it started to slowly give way. I tightened my grip and pulled harder. The fabric finally gave, and the momentum caused me to fall on my butt.
"Ow,"I stood up rubbing where I made contact with the ground. Some bits of debris rolled off my body. I turned my attention to the fabric, and I felt my eyes grow wide.
In the center of the old fabric was an emblem I had seen before. MiraJane showed us her's that was sitting on top of her leg. It was the very same mark. Fairy Tail. The once number one wizard guild. The same guild that my parents use to belong to.
"Hey! What are you doing here? This area is off limits." A cold hand came down on my shoulder, and I felt my heart sink. I turned my head to get a better look, and my nightmare was real.
A man wearing a black uniform glared at me. The visor on his helmet covered his eyes, but his eyes burned through it. A Carrier. This could be one of the worst things to happen to me. I looked passed him and saw at least two more standing behind the rope waiting.
I gave a nervous smile, "Oh, I'm sorry, it's just our baseball landed in here, and I have to go get it."
"Do you honestly expected to believe that?" God, stop talking, Nashi.
I shrugged my shoulders and looked back up at him. "I don't know. It's usually such a hit with senior citizens." Shut up, shut up, shut up!
His grip tightened on my shoulder. "What did you call me, brat!" My shoulder was starting to feel sore. Those magic canceling gloves they wear are no joke, but I kept going for some reason.
"I'm sorry, am I speaking to fast? S-e-n-i-o-r c-i-t-i-z-e-n." Please someone stop me!!
The Carrier didn't reply. He rose his hand as if to hit me. I braced myself. A regular hit wouldn't hurt, but one slap from those gloves, and the scar will never come out.
"Wizard!" a voice screamed. The Carrier's hand stopped in midair. He released his grip on my shoulder and turned around.
It was like a blur. The man reached down to his belt and grabbed this small stick thing. It extended into a large staff. I flinched just by looking at it. The Carrier got in his ready position. That was when, out of nowhere, a blurred shape came right at him with a fist full of fire. In a second, the fist made contact, and the Carrier fell back without a chance. So much for his tough guy act.
