Chapter 1: A thousand or more years later...

Beth's POV:

I was in a room, with no windows, with no colors but one. Darkness! It was pure darkness, so pure, that I couldn't even see my own hands. 'Where am I?' I asked myself, not knowing I was speaking out loud.

Then I heard whispers, a lot of whispers. It became louder and louder. It was like a thousand old grandpas and grandmas speaking at the same time. I was only able to catch some words.

'Where am I?!!! That's what she says when she is summoned to the holy grounds?'

'Who is she? Or, what is this beast?'

I seriously don't know where I am, or what I did wrong?!!!

'You guys are scaring the poor child...' I heard another person's voice. She sounded younger, more ladylike, maybe in her 30s.

Everything became quiet suddenly.

'Now, Angela. Did you summon her?' I heard another Grandma's voice. Her voice sounded gentle and sweet.

'No, mother. I didn't. I don't know. I think she came by her own will.' The young lady, Angela answered.

'Her own will?'

'How can anyone...'

'She is the one! That is a wicked sign!'

'We are doomed!'

'She is coming back for revenge!'

Revenge? Angela?

There were hundreds and hundreds of whispers again. My head started pounding, it hurt terribly. I don't know why, but I started to scream. I didn't even know I could scream so loud.

'You... you... are the chosen one... you will be the one to...'

That was the last whisper I heard...

"Sis, sis! Beth, Elizabeth. Don't scare your brother like that! Wake up!"

"Tobias!' I shouted as I woke up. 'Wait... Where am I? I was in a dark room..."

"Sh... It's Jayden. It was just a dream, okay? Now, now... Don't cry anymore, ok? Who the hell is Tobias? Why are you saying a boy's name in your sleep? No, that's not important right now... Damn it! Do you not like your new room? If not, we can always change it. I knew staying up here all by yourself was a bad idea."

Jayden Wulfhart was my twin older brother, but we looked nothing alike. Jayden looked exactly like my mother, while I did not look like either of my parents. However, they have told me that I looked just like my great grandmother. Jayden's hair was chocolate brown with streaks of light brown mixed in, while mine was strawberry-blond; his eyes were black, while my eyes were grey-blue. He was tall for his age, while I was short for my age. Our personalities, hobbies, and favorite foods were all very different.
