a letter to nobody

dear nobody,

sometimes you might look around at your life, and see a canvas of broken dreams, shattered ideas and wasted opportunities. you might see everything that you ever wanted to try, but didn't, every person you could've met if you took that chance, or every abandoned story idea that you gave up on after a paragraph. it's human to be pessimistic, its easier to see the bad things and to be sad and to wonder why you even try. reasons to end it are easier to find than reasons to stay, and to give up is more tempting than to keep fighting.

it gets better. everything will always get better. there is good in this world. it can be hard to see but it is everywhere, from the amazing cake you had last week down to the patterns the shadows make on your bedroom wall and the rainbow retractions from your glass decorations. happiness can be found in the smallest of things, and every time you see an excited puppy, enthralled by the wonders of the earth, or a small child, without a care in the world. no matter how terrible the world can seem, there are always happy moments to bring you back to earth.

its worth the wait. you can go so long without feeling a shred of joy, you can go through months, or years of emptiness, of the lonely, dull, numbness that fills you up and slows you down and traps you in your own mind, but you will find your escape, whether its a person, a hobby, or simply a fresh start, as long as you stick around, your happiness will be waiting at the other side. no matter how long it takes, you will find it.

you are lucky to be alive! you are only you because of the exact events that have taken place throughout the entire course of the universe, you could've been a completely different person if one tiny thing had not have happened. embrace who you are! life's too short to hide behind a fake persona, you are you and you are perfectly unique and you are loved. be who you are, be who you want to be and help others be themselves too! you exist for a reason and that's amazing! you are beautiful, no matter what you or anyone else thinks, because there is no one else like you and that makes you amazing! do you look at a mountain and think its too big, do you look at a leaf and say its too veiny, do you say that natures ugly? no you don't, because its not, and neither are you! you are a part of nature and you are beautiful, and if you don't think so then i certainly do.

love yourself, love the world, love life. embrace it as it comes. look out at the sun when it shines on the puddles on the street, go to that club, write that story, make new friends and fight and make up and enjoy all you do. when things get tough, know that a light shines at the end of the tunnel and, no matter how hard the journey is, the final stop will be sensational.

this isn't a letter to nobody, this is a letter to everybody, take it to heart and use it in your life, i'm not lying to you, it is all going to be okay in the end.
