Taeyong:
"Are you sure you're OK?" I asked worriedly. Yuta was about to answer but his body seized up again and he let out another powerful sneeze. He sighed and took the tissue I handed him.
"I'm fine." He said after blowing his nose hard. He lay back in the chair and tucked the blanket around himself. I made him get up earlier and put on my hoodie but I could see he was still cold. Fuck.
"You're not fine. You have a cold."
"Kaze." He said and closed his eyes as he settled deeper into the chair. "Kaze wo hiitemasu."
I squatted next to the chair and put my hand on his forehead. It was hot and sticky and I had no idea what the hell I was going to do. When I had a cold at home I just stayed in bed all day while my mother fussed over me like it was the end of the world. Now I completely understood how she felt. When... IF we ever got home I was going to have to apologize for snapping at her when she got like this. I moved the metal tray I had found in the kitchen closer to Yuta. The fire I had made inside it had almost burned out so I added more twigs and a few logs. Outside it was still raining in a steady drizzle and I worried about finding more wood to burn if it stayed like that for much longer. I needed to go back out there though. To get food. And I remembered we had some tablets in the first aid kit. What were they for again?
I brushed Yuta's hair off of his forehead and stood up to go put on my sneakers. It was better to go sooner rather than later.
"I'll be back soon, OK?" I murmured to him as I passed him on the way back out. He slipped his hand out of the blanket and I gave it a quick squeeze before heading back to the beach.
The beach looked completely different in the rain. It already wasn't very pretty, but with a backdrop of grey skies and silvery dark water, it looked gloomier. I found the first aid kit tucked in the sheet we used to keep everything safe together. I pouted when I read the tablets were just ordinary pain tablets but put them in my pocket anyway. I saw the shell from the crab Yuta had caught the day before. I grabbed it and the fishing pole by the corner of the bed. Maybe I could catch something while I was still here. I hooked some of the crab's guts on the needle sticking out of the shoelace and tossed it in the water, then stuck the stick in the ground, putting more sand around it to keep it stable. When I was satisfied it would hold went back up the beach to inspect the damage the rain had done to our shelter. The mattress was soaked, of course. And the sheets. I pulled those off and hung them from the 'roof' of our shelter so they would dry when the sun decided to show up again. I tsked as I saw our giant S.O.S sign had become a giant mess of towels. I fixed that too and went back to fetch my bag of toiletries and Yuta's things to take back to the plane. When I was all set, I checked my line and saw there was still nothing so I sat down in the wet sand to wait for a while. I pulled my cap off and rubbed my eyes. I was sleepy, but I couldn't afford to fall asleep here. Yuta would be waiting for me. He been a complete idiot sitting in the rain like that, watching over me. Now he was sick. I just hoped that he wasn't too sick and his cold passed quickly. We shouldn't spent too many days away from the beach in case something came by again. It had been ages though and the longer we were here the more I gave up hope that anyone who was searching for us could even find us.
The shoelace jerked in the water and I shot up, grabbing the stick and pulling whatever had fallen for the lure out of the water. At the end of the line, swinging and flapping in the air, was a fish. It wasn't a big one, but that didn't matter. It was enough to feed Yuta a little to keep up his strength while he needed it. I snatched it off from the needle and took out the Swiss Army Knife I had found in the tool box when I had been bored and was digging around in it a few days ago. I gutted the fish quickly and decided I hadn't been gone too long yet, I could sit for a little while longer and try for another fish. I wouldn't have to come down again here too soon either if I could get one. I repeated the same process and sat down again, lying back in the sand and leaning on my elbows.
