Taeyong:
I tried to spend most of our time on the ship sleeping but Yuta was excited and kept talking just as I was falling asleep. I gave up after an hour and we walked around the ship to stretch our legs. Most of the Navy staff and officers on the ship ignored us but there were a few that stopped to say hello and ask us if we need anything. One of them showed us to a games room and we killed a few hours playing Tekken on a PS3. I let him beat me every time.
By the time evening came around and we were told it was almost time to dock, Yuta was practically a vibrating ball of nervous energy. We were waiting by the door when some of the military personnel came over with our bags and a couple of visitors lanyards. Non-authorized civilians were not really supposed to be at the military headquarters without permission. As a result we needed to be escorted off the grounds. The door to the ramp leading off the ship opened and we moved out. Onodera, the man who had been talking with us earlier in the day, was standing at the bottom of the ramp already.
"Thank you, again." I said to him in Japanese and bowing quickly.
"Mondai arimasen." He answered and I smiled because I knew enough Japanese to understand what that meant. He rattled off something to Yuta and bowed to both of us before he left.
"Wow. Buildings..." Yuta said, sounding like he was 5 all over again.
"I know. I almost feel like kissing the ground." I said and he chuckled with me. We got into the car, both of us in the back and the two military escorts in the front seat. Yuta bounced in his seat and I poked him in the leg.
"Stop moving." I giggled and he stuck out his tongue at me.
"I can't." He answered. "I'm too excited. This is all adrenalin." I shook my head and reached for his shoulder pushing his head down onto my lap. His cheek was warm on my thigh and when my fingers brushed through his hair, they glided through much easier than they had before on the island. He calmed down as I played with his hair, humming so low I couldn't hear it but I could feel the vibrations in my thigh. I watched his eyes close briefly and I marvelled at how pretty he looked with his eyelashes brushing his cheekbones. They were much more prominent now that he had lost weight but he still looked striking. His earrings were biting into my skin through my pants but I didn't mind. I could stay like this for as long as he let me touch him.
When I looked up a while later, one of the escorts was watching me through the rear view mirror. I froze, panicking a little. I forgot for a while that we weren't alone anymore. That even though it might not feel like it to us yet, we were semi-public figures and one news story like this could do more damage than anything I had worried about before. But the man watching me in the mirror just nodded his head once at me and offered a small smile. I nodded back, a little relieved.
We stopped soon, at the barricade separating us from the public, just before the big gate that marked the exit of the parking lot. My breath caught in my throat when I saw my sister and another girl who must be Yuta's sister, standing next to my parents, huddling together in a semi-circle, watching the car like hawks. Yuta sat up and when he saw both of our sisters, arms hooked together he laughed.
"Our families met each other before we could introduce them..."
"It looks like my sister already sunk her claws into yours." He laughed again and smirked at me as he popped the door open.
"Trust me. My sister has bigger claws." He said.
I followed him more slowly out the car and turned to thank our escorts for driving us to the barricade. My eyes drifted to the guard who had been watching me through the mirror and I shook his hand a little tighter as I said thank you. He just kept quiet and nodded again. When I turned around, I was hit by a wall of perfume and warmth.
