Finding Serenity

There's a struggle we face,

To fight and live on,

Or to break,

To drown,

In a life filled with torment,

We try to find ourselves,

We try to find peace,

Though, how can we find,

What we do not know?

Trust is serenity,

Says the wise and the old,

Yet the closest in your life,

Struggles to be trusted,

As the life we once lived,

Has been void of love,

When the one we needed most,

Cannot be counted on,

How can our lives,

Be shared to others?

Faces we struggle to console in,

Persons we can't let touch,

Our minds scream with agony,

Warn us of hurt,

Caused by the closest,

They will beat our souls,

Into dust filled clouds,

How can we find peace,

As the ones near,

Are the ones to be shunned?
