Chapter2: Meeting

Zeref's POV
I was resting in the shade of a tree surrounded by my usual depressing thoughts. "Why do I have to live with dreaded curse? Why can't I live like a normal person with a normal life?" Every day I ask myself questions like this wondering if I'll ever find an answer. All of a sudden I hear a voice nearby I think it's a woman."Oh no what if she finds me? I don't want to kill anyone anymore. I thought this island was uninhabited." I worry about her safety to myself even though I haven't meet her much less seen her. That's when I see something enter the clearing not long after I realize it's the woman I heard earlier. I quickly make sure I'm hidden in the bushes and try to listen to what she's saying. "I hope she's only passing by and leaves soon." I think to myself as I watch her. Then I realize that she looks familiar.

Lucy's POV
"Ugh how in the world did me and Cana get separated?!" I whisper-yelled to myself. I look at my surroundings and get the feeling someone is watching me. "I hope it's only my imagination." I say to myself feeling creeped out. I continue walking and enter a clearing completely lost and no idea what to do next.

Zeref's POV
I watch her as she is wandering around aimlessly while mumbling to herself. "I still can't figure out why she looks so familiar though." I accidentally say out loud but in a quiet voice. "Crap I hope she didn't hear me." This time in my head while covering my mouth.  I try to duck down lower just in case but as I did a twig snapped gaining her attention. "Who's there?!" I hear the blonde haired woman call out. Hearing the slight anger in her voice I show myself once again feeling like heard and seen her somewhere before. She looks toward me and begins to say something but instead a look of pain covers her features. "What is this?" She asks herself in a weak voice. She falls on her knees and I try to approach her and help but stop myself because I don't want the curse to activate.

Lucy's POV
For as long as I can remember I was the daughter of the wealthy Hearfilia family. After my mother died my father became cold and harsh and I was alone ever since. Well until I joined Fairytail that is. So why are these weird images filling my head almost as if their memories? I see what looks like to be my younger self playing with a black haired boy in the garden outside the mansion. Still what surprises me the most is when the younger me says his name "Come on Zeref let's find something to play!" Wait if I was friends with Zeref when I was younger why am I only just now remembering? As if to answer my question the scene shifts to what seems to be a few days later. I see my mother laying in bed with the younger versions of me and Zeref standing beside her bedside. She coughs and speaks weakly "Zeref I'm sorry but you need to run and forget about us." Upon hearing this the younger version of me and him break down into tears "Why?" Zeref asks in between sobs. "I'm sorry but there's no time to explain you'll just have to trust me." My mother weakly says to him. "But it's impossible for me to leave now! You guys are like family and if you don't make it who will protect Lucy if I'm somewhere far away?!" He screams between sobs and the younger me has already ran out the room not wanting to except the news. "Looks like I have no choice." I watch as my mother says this then chants a memory lock away spell and teleports Zeref away from the mansion. The younger me then walks in and before my mothers final breath she locks my memory of Zeref away as well. All the other memories of Zeref came back to me as well and I weakly stood up but felt like something was still missing.

Zeref's POV
About 5 minutes after Lucy fell to her knees remembering the past Zeref soon started to go through the same thing as he finally realized who she was."What's with this headache it's different than what I feel when the curse activates." I thought to myself then I saw the flashes of memories that Layla had locked up so long ago. When the pain dies down I stand up and ask Lucy if she had just gone through the same thing as I did. She gave a weak nod of her head and took a step towards me. "Wait no you can't come near me! I'm cursed!" I scream as I throw my heads up in a stopping position. I see the confusion in her eyes before I start to feel the pain I go through when the curse activates. A dark cloud forms around me killing every thing it touches. I saw Lucy as she tripped as trying to get away to get away and it before she could make another move it surrounded her.

Lucy's POV
What ever this black cloud thing is that Zeref warned me about just surrounded me. For a second I thought my life had ended but as every thing died down I realized I was still alive some how. I stood up and saw Zeref on the ground crying with his face in his fangs thinking he killed me. I silently approach him and wrap my arms around him. "Shhh it's ok look I'm still alive." I say in gentle comforting voice by his ear and slowly remove his hands from his face. He looks up at me with tear stained face eyes widening in shock. "How?" He asks me but it came out more like a question he was asking himself. "What are you not glad I'm alive safe and sound?" I say in a pretend hurt voice and start pouting. Zeref quickly stands up in a panic shaking his arms in front of himself screaming "No no no! That's not it I was just surprised that's all! Of course I'm happy your alive!" which shows he took me seriously. Still in my crouched position from before I fall over laughing really hard.

Zeref's POV
I panic when I see what looks like a sad Lucy on the ground. Trying to clear up the mess I thought I made I soon hear a pretty laughter fill the air. "Wait pretty what am I thinking?! But she is beautiful. No! Stop don't go there!" I mentally scream at myself. I let out an awkward laugh at myself for both my thoughts and falling for Lucy's joke. She finally ends her laughing fit and speaks as she stands up. "You ok Zeref?" She asks with a little concern showing on her features. "Yeah just trying to get over the shock of reuniting with my childhood best friend and finder out she's immune to the curse." I say with a light chuckle trying to reassure her as I avert my eyes. "Yeah same here." I hear her agree with me and after a moment hear her footsteps approach me. Little did they know there were some eyes watching them.
