I find her in the cafeteria
Eating a sandwich alone
Pastrami and American cheese
She brought something from home
I find a seat next to her
She doesn't even flinch
Is it because she likes me?
Or does she think I'm a grinch?
"Hey, I'm Carlos, what's your name?"
I ask Kennedy with a smile
She just keeps on chewing
She chews for a while
She finally stops and looks at me
Sandwich placed down
She doesn't say anything
Which causes me to frown
"I'd like to know you better
You see, nice to me."
I tell her, regaining my grin.
It's not a lie, see?
Kennedy picks her sandwich back up
She takes another bite
Maybe she'll talk to me later
She'll sleep on it tonight.
