Peter's POV
"Y-y-you're daughter?" I said, starting to get nervous
"Yes" he simply answered before speaking into his watch
"Kitty, I need you in the kitchen, we have a new member"
We stood there for a few minutes, me waiting anxiously to meet the daughter of Tony Stark, my mentor. Soon I heard soft foot steps through the hall diagonal of me.
Now I have to admit, I am not the best around girls, especially attractive girls. But this girl, oh I could already see, I'd be a blubbering idiot in front of her. She walked in nonchalantly in simple denim ripped jeans and a cropped white sweater. Her dark gold hair cascading down to her slim waist in perfect waves, and her green eyes full of intelligence and mischief. She carried herself confidently when she walked in and said her hellos to everyone. She walked towards Tony and me and did the same thing everyone else did. Examined me from head to toe
"this is my daughter Katherine, or Kitty Stark. Also known as the Shadow. Kitty, this is Peter Parker" Mr. Stark introduced her
"Also known as Spider-Man" I finished my introduction and held out my hand for her to shake. She took it and shook it with a smirk. Not a 'better than you smirk', but more of a interested smirk. I noticed Natasha raising her eyebrows at me, as if she could read my mind and see how I saw Kitty
"Welcome Peter Parker" She said releasing my hand and went to stand closer to Clint and Natasha
"Kitty is trained in combat, stealth, and hacking" Mr. Stark beamed, obviously showing some sense of pride for her. She merely stood there with a small grin on her beautiful face
"I will be training you in combat with Kitty as my assistant" Natasha said
I almost wanted to protest the training, but something about knowing Kitty would be there in our sessions made me keep my mouth shut
"Well Steve promised to take me to get chipotle so I'm gonna go find him" Kitty said walking towards the exit where Steve Rogers left "I'll see you around Peter"
I attempted to wave a little but she was already gone, leaving Clint staring at me with a smirk
"Okay kid, lets show you your room" Tony said nudging me to the other hallway
Kitty's POV
"I'll see you around Peter"
Was that too weird to say? I've never had another kid my age living in the house. I've always been surrounded by people that were, well, older and better than me. I won't lie when I heard this Parker kid was coming I did a bit of research on his track record. He was pretty good, and his powers were cool. In all the videos I'd seen of him he seemed so confident and ready, but seeing him there surrounded by all the older and well trained Avengers, he looks nervous. Still, he had this glimmer in his eye of just 'I'm ready for this. I'm ready to change the world' and I have to say I admired that. A lot.
"Hey Kitty whats up?" Steve said while he examined his shield
"Hey, nothing much. You promised you'd take me to Chipotle today since I perfected that combo punch move!" I said in a light hearted tone
He turned and gave me the classic Captain America smile that made other girls swoon. He put his shield down and looked around for a second
"I suppose I did say that" he said with a small laugh "alright, I wanna get out of here anyways, its feeling crowded"
We took Steve's car which was a dark red vintage mustang that he'd taught me to drive on. It was a nice car and always turned heads when we took it out. I know my dad and Steve have beef, but he was always a good mentor to me and never wanted to make me feel like I had to choose sides, which was something I really respected. My dad didn't make me choose sides either but he does enjoy an occasional joke or two about Captn.
We sped through the city in search of the nearest chipotle and found one not too far. We both go burrito bowls because they're the best from Chipotle. We sat down and caught up
"So Kitty what'd you think of the Parker kid?" Steve asked, mixing his bowl
"He seemed good. Helpful. He definitely has spunk, and I like that" I didn't add the part that I found him pretty adorable when I first saw him
"Yeah the kids got something. I liked his attitude and I gotta trust Tony on this one, he's really taken a shine to him"
"Yeah it's finally the son he wanted" I picked at my food. See I'm from my dad's old party days. He knocked up a girl, she couldn't take care of me so she had me stay at friends houses for the first five years of my life, then she passed away from overdose and my home life was kinda up in the air, until Tony Stark discovered he had a kid from a letter she had sent him but he never opened until then. I know he was hoping I was a boy, but instead he got me. I worked my ass off to make him proud of me, and I do believe that he is. It's just not the same with a girl though. It didn't bother me too much, and I was happy that my dad found Peter to mentor
"Katherine, there are few things that me and your dad can agree on, but one thing that we can is that we know you're a special kid and you deserve to be on this team more than anyone else. Your dad wouldn't have wanted it any other way" Steve said, stopping eating to make sure I got the message
I nodded and smiled, happy for the reassurance. We continued talking for the rest of lunch and had a good time catching up
