chapter 6

"He locked us in!?!" I yelled. "Let us out!" I raised my bow and i loaded the arrow and pointed it at him. He sat down and started recording on his computer. "Open this Damn door!" Daryl shouted at him. He and Shane got handed axes and they started swinging at the doors. "Put down your weapon we don't kill the living." My mother whispered to me. I cursed and lowered my bow. "That doesn't't do anything the door is supposed to withstand a rocket launcher." Daryl turned around and headed towards Jenner. "Yeah but your Head ain't!" He was about to swing when i stood in between them and pushed Daryl back. "Please let us keep trying!" Rick pleaded. "Why can't you just wait and spend your last 15 minutes with your family. There is nothing out there! No hope! A millisecond that's it no pain." He replied. My father shook his head. "I think you're lying about there being no hope. Maybe it's not here but somewhere." Rick stated, trying to convince Jenner.

After what felt like forever Jenner opened the doors. We grabbed our stuff and made our way towards the door. Jaqui and Andrea however sat and waited for the clock. "We got to go!" I yelled at Dale. "No just go." I hated leaving them behind but i knew we had to. Jenner whispered something to my father and he looked stunned but shook it off and we made our way to the entrance where the front door wouldn't't open. We tried to break the glass windows with axes, a chair and even a gun but it wouldn't't break. "Rick i might have something that could help." Carol said while digging around in her purse. "Carol i don't think a nail file's going to help." Shane stated mockingly. She ignored him. "I found this in your pocket, your first day at camp." She said and pulled out a grenade, and handed it to my father. "Everyone get to the wall." We all ducked down and shielded ourselves, and Daryl shielded me as well. "Shhiii." Rick was cut off by the ear deafening explosion glass shattered and we ran out of the building and to the cars killing walkers along the way. Daryl and i got into the truck quickly and in the distance we could see Andrea and Dale making their way out. There was honking and shouts from the R.V. and Rick shouted for everyone to get down. We went on the ground of Daryl's truck and he shielded me again.Once again there was an ear deafening explosion and the sight was horrific the CDC was nothing but debris now and black smoke curled into the blue sky. The debris was on fire and Andrea and Dale rushed to the R.V. we all watched for a mere moment before the group revved up the car engines and we drove away from the CDC and the city of Atlanta heading out of the city for good.

We needed more gas so we ended up giving up Shane's jeep and Daryl's truck. That meant ride on a motorcycle with Daryl. Hesitantly i wrapped my arms around Daryl's torso, and he revved the engine and we made our way in front of everyone. "Are you alright?" He asked me. "Yeah i'm fine." To kill some time i decided to sing softly. I started to sing parting glass- Ed Sheeran over the engine.

Of all the money that e'er I had
