PROLOGUE Leighlani's P.O.V.

(7th grade)

okay so it was like the 3rd week of school when I met my best friend,Shane. It all started... like most friendships start... on facebook. haha. I get home from school and trudge up stairs saying hello to my grandma as I pass. I of course head over to my laptop and turn it on and Go on facebook. and there my page pops up "Leighlani Calistah Hepburn" yup, my name's leighlani ,but my friends call me Leigh or Leighla. but moving onwards, when I go on facebook I had a friend request from "Shane Andrew Newman," we had 35 friends in common so I added him. All of a sudden a chat bubble popped up.

Shane: Hi :)

Leighlani: hey... who the hell are you?

Shane: I sit next to you in Civics class.i'm Shane.

Leighlani: oh, hi! I remember you!! xD i'm Leighlani.but please call me Leigh

Shane: okay Leigh. :) well I gotta go, bye Leigh see ya tomorrow.

Leighlani: bye n_n

And with that short conversation, it set off a spark for life.

Chapter one- i'm only me when I'm with you.

Leighlani's P.O.V.

(present day)

" Hey!!" I called to Shane as he stood at my doorstep. He gave me a huge hug, the usual greeting. "hey Leigh". it's funny how he always pronounces it the correct way "Lay" all my other friends call me "Lee" and when they say my whole name they pronounce it

"Lee-lawn-ee" but Shane knows how to say it "Lay-lah-nee". so there I stood, first day of ninth grade. Huge excitement flushed in me. I yelled "Bye" to my mom, grandma , and dad and I headed out the door. I turned on my ipod, gave an earphone to Shane and put the other in my ear and put it on shuffle. the song "you've got a friend in me " came on. I couldn't help but laugh. He looked at me weird "What?" he said in all seriousness "nothing, it's just that, this song reminds me of you." "oh." then we both started laughing. When we made it to school we got our schedules. we didn't have any classes together, Bummer, but we had lunch together.

"Save me a seat in lunch" I told him " 'course" he told me and with that we split up.

the day came and went we had lunch for last period together so there we sat eating pizza and water with a chocolate cake we would split after we finished the pizza. We talked about our day, and our teachers and everyone we had in our classes. I could be myself around him and he didn't care how dorky I was or if I snorted when I laughed. He learned to love those things about me. He was my best friend and no one knew me better than him. After we finished the pizza it was "Epic Cake battle time" as we called it. We both started Chucking down cake and finally when we got to the last piece he got it, but a chocolate chip fell of so I got it. I said "I WIN!"

"No fair! I got the last piece!" "But I got the chocolate chip YOU dropped!" he then surrendered. and I had won.

After that we walked home, well he walked me home and then he walked down the street to his house. I didn't talk to him for a good two hours because I was showering and doing homework. then "Thriller" by michael jackson came on, I automatically knew it was Shane. that was his ringtone on my iphone. "hey shane, what's up?" I said "you'll never believe who I just spoke to!" he said sounding very excited "who? Megan Fox? Miley Cyrus?" I said playfully. "Nope! Elle McKinley" "Elle McKinley? Brown hair, green eyes?" "yup, that's the one."
