Chapter 21

Cassidy’s POV:

Gentry put the last of the suitcases into the trunk of Trinton’s car and we all climbed in, ready to make the journey back to Sisters. I sighed contentedly as Ana snuggled into my arms, quickly drifting off to sleep. Kyra was leaning against the window, sleeping soundly and Gentry and Trinton were arguing over what music to listen to. This is my life. This is my paradise.

The drive home went by quicker than the drive to the cabin. I pouted as we pulled up to Ana’s aunt and uncles house to drop her off. I climbed out of the car after her and grabbed her suitcase. I walked her up to the front door and stopped her before she could open the door.

“Are you sure you want to do this right now?”

She nodded and pulled me into a hug. “I don’t want to hide us anymore. I love you and I want to share that with the world.”

I nodded and pulled away from her, still holding her hand as she unlocked the door and walked in. We made our way to the living room first, then, not seeing anyone, went to the kitchen. Michel, Henry, and Lily were sitting around the dining table. Lily was having a snack while Michel and Henry were sipping on what I assumed to be tea at this time of day.

Ana pulled me over to where we were standing directly behind Lily, but facing Michel and Henry head on. They both looked up at us and smiled. “Hello, girls. Did you enjoy your vacation?” Henry asked as he turned back to the paper he had been reading.

“Yeah, it was amazing. Umm… There’s something I need to speak with you about… Without little ears.” Ana said and then pulled me to the living room. We were followed shortly by Henry and Michel, the latter of which had a concerned look on her face.

“What is it, dear? Is everything ok?” Michel asked as she took a seat on the couch next to her husband.

“Yeah, everything’s fine. I just wanted to let you know that…” she paused, obviously trying to come up with the best way to say this. “I mean… I know this is going to be difficult for you to come to terms with, but…”

“What Ana is trying to say is that we,” I put my arm around her shoulder and pulled her to me, “are together.”

Michel looked confused for a moment before rage spread across her face. “What do you mean ‘together’?”

Henry tried to calm his wife, but he looked really uncomfortable with the whole situation.

“She means, that we,” Ana pointed between her and I, “are together, as in romantically involved, as in dating.”

“How could you do this to us after everything we’ve done for you?” Michel shrieked.

Ana looked taken aback. “What do you mean?”

Michel suddenly got really calm. It made me even more nervous for my little mate. “It’s ok. I understand now. You’re confused and you’re still in a tizzy about losing your parents. It’s ok. You can just stop hanging out with her,” she sneered at me, “and we’ll make sure everything goes back to normal.”
