I was sobbing all the way home on the bus. It was embarrassing in a way. Even though no one could tell because I was right at the back with my hoodie was over my face for most of it, I still felt self-conscious and vulnerable.
I just thought that Luca was different. I thought that he was misunderstood and his reputation wasn't a true representation of him. But I was wrong. He's a monster. I suppose I got too emotionally involved. That's what I get for trusting that the most dangerous gang leader in Britain wouldn't try to hurt me in some way.
"Izzy? What are you doing home?" My mum walks through, from the kitchen.
"I-I-I'm feeling really sick." I half-lie. I feel sick because of what happened.
"Oh, what's wrong. You are looking a bit peaky." She fusses.
"I just need a lie-down, I think," I tell her.
"Of course, sweetie. I'll bring you a cup of tea up."
As soon as I shut the door of my room, I start crying again. Hysterically this time. I just think it's got too much for me. I've had a taste of how nasty and vicious Luca can be. I'm absolutely dreading the thought of seeing his face again.
I pull the duvet over my head and stay there for hours. Just contemplating life. It was about half past nine by the time I pulled my head back out. I heard the sound of a motorbike. That only meant one thing: Sebastian.
I told him last week that if no one's home he can just come straight in, so I guess that's what he's going to do now. Unfortunately, if he's going to do a similar thing to what Luca did, there is no one here to defend me. Shit.
I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. Should I pretend to be asleep? I don't want to face him actually. I put my head back under the covers and shut my eyes.
I hear my door creak open.
"Isobel?" A raspy voice asks.
The duvet covering my head is slowly removed, however, my eyes remain shut.
"Isobel!" He shouts, making my eyes flicker open.
"What?" I snap.
He grabs my wrist and pulls me straight out of bed.
"I've heard what you've been doing to Luca." He growls- I've never seen this side to him.
"I genuinely haven't said anything to anyone!" I plead.
"You're a fucking liar!" He shouts. "You ran away from him today so he can't confront you about your lies. Well, I'm telling you now, there's absolutely no way you can run away from the rest of KM17."
"I'm telling the truth, I swear on my family's lives," I say.
"Yeah, yeah. We know you're lying so it looks like your family's lives will be taken at your expense." He grins evilly.
"I'll never do anything for you again if you lay so much as a finger on them!" I taunt.
"Isobel, you're really not getting the message here. We are KM17, we do not believe in mercy or morals or magnanimity. We all kill for a living. You are nothing to us!" He spits.
"You're all monsters! I hate you!"
"Right, that's it." He grabs me by the hair and slams my back into the wall. "You're so insolent! Looks like I'm going to have to show you how bad our consequences are." He shouts, whilst facing me.
"Fuck you!" I shout and spit right in his face. That really sets him off.
He slowly wipes away the spit from his face and turns back to me. His eyes have gone black with anger.
He lets out a huge roar before throwing me with all his power to the floor.
I land agonisingly on my wrist. I think it's broken.
"You fucking tell anyone another word, and I swear, I'll kill you." He growls before leaving my bedroom.
The pain from my wrist leaves me frozen in shock and upset. Anyone who is associated with Luca is a complete sadist.
