IT WAS A DARK, STARY NIGHT IN BEACON HILLS, only a few cars in sight with lampposts as the only source of light.

Kate Argent stared in awe as she watched her sleeping daughter, Scarlett Argent, through the rear view mirror.

"In other news, local authorities remain perplexed by the animal attacks plaguing Beacon Hills."

Kate let out a scoff, changing the radio channel and moving her head along with the music.

The pair were driving to Beacon Hills, California, Kate's hometown. There, they would be living with Kate's brother, Chris Argent, and his wife and daughter, Victoria and Allison.

Feeling eye's on her, she looked around her scenery. Howls of what where most likely wolves filled the air, alerting the Hunter immediately.

Kate gasped and clung onto the steering wheel as the sound of a car horn beeping rang through her ears, a car had sped in front of her. She turned to look at the backseat, checking to make sure that her daughter was still sleeping and not hurt.

"Nice driving, Kate, nice." She muttered to herself, breathing heavily.

Just as she began to calm down, yet another alarming noise echoed outside of the car, along with the thudding off feet against it's roof.

Kate's hand wondered back to grab her shotgun, only for the car window to be smashed open and clawed hand grasping her arm harshly.

Scarlett's eyes shot wide open, her adrenaline kicking in at the sight of her mother struggling in the front seat. She was quick to snatch the shotgun out off her mother's grasp, shooting at the attacker.

Kate kicked the passenger door open, rolling out of the vehicle and scurrying over to help her daughter out.

"What the hell was that?" Scarlett panted, handing the weapon back over to her mom.

"I don't know, baby, I don't know." She lied.

Kate had never mentioned the supernatural to Scarlett in hopes that it would keep the young girl safe from her mother's enemies. As for her job, she always told her that they sold firearms to the law enforcement.

"Come on," Kate fired a bullet into the star filled sky, "Come on!"

Kate pushed Scarlett behind her in a protective manner, marching over to the car trunk and popping it open as wolf howls travelled around them.

"Text your uncle, tell him that we're having some problems and need him her as soon as possible." Kate demanded, fiddling around her the cases full of hunting equipment.

Scarlett nodded, taking the phone from her mother's jacket pocket and searching for her Uncle Chris's contact.

To: Chris
Mom said that she needs your here ASAP. We're having a few issues. — S

Scarlett send the message, almost immediately receiving a reply her uncle saying: I'll be there as soon as I can, I'll track the car down by it's GPS.

"Is it gone?" Scarlett asked her mom, closing the phone and hugging herself in order to stay warm.

"I'm not sure. Stay in the car." Kate instructed her, handing her a pistol in case of an emergency.

"What—"

Kate didn't hesitate to cut off her daughter's protests, "Scarlett! Please just get in car!"

Scarlett obeyed, climbing into the back seat and waited patiently as Kate ran after the sounds of the howls with her rifle and torch in hand.

Kate followed the moment of a werewolf, who was now in human form, as it rushed across the roof of a building. She pointed her gun at its chest, watching as it knocked it to the ground.

Chris's car pulled up just behind Kate's car, him climbing out of the driver's seat.

"Get in." He demanded.

"Not even an, "Hello, nice to see you?"" Kate teased, moving round to the back seat of her car, pulling Scarlett out and leading her over to Chris.

"All I've got at the moment is, "Please put the assault rifle away before someone notices."" Chris told her, pointing down at the weapon in her hands.

"That's the brother I love." Kate rolled her eyes, "Chris, there were two of them."

Chris's blue eyes travelled over to Scarlett's dark brown ones, "Why don't you go get in the car? There's a blanket in the back seat so you can warm yourself up." He told her, noticing the girls shivering and using it as an excuse to get his sister alone.

Scarlett tutted, throwing her hands up in the air before obeying, "I always have to stay in the car!" She mumbled to herself.

"The Alpha?" Chris asked once the back door had shut, meaning that the teenager could no longer hear them.

"I don't know but one of them tried to kill me." Kate told him.

"One of them is gonna lead us to the other. He can't do that if he's dead." He explained.

"Well, I can't help kill either of them if one of them kills me first." Snapped Kate with a roll of her eyes.

"How long will it take?" Chris asked, his eyes searching the area.

"I'd give him 48 hours," Kate shrugged, "If that."
