Grace sat at the corner of her bed and started to think. Greg was on his way. Now she needed a freezer.
She wiped her tears and ran to the pantry. She asked for the chef in charge of the instruments.Chef, I need a freezer in my room.
Is your fridge not working, Grace. I can send someone to...
No no chef, it's working all right. Actually Troy and I love ice cream and it might be difficult to come over to this part of the cruise just for ice cream. You see I hmm eh...
Fine Grace. No problem. We do have a few empty freezers at the storage, take your pick. I'll send somebody with you in just a sec.
Thanks Chef, thanks a ton.
She got the freezer installed in her room. Now to get Troy into it.
She kept the freezer running for a while and then went out to fetch him. She found him busily chatting off with Czarina. Her blood boiled at the sight and her skin crawled within. She was going to do everything and anything to keep her son alive and most importantly human.
Troy ran to her immediately and tried to hug her. She slipped out of his grasp ever so gingerly and led him into the room. On seeing the freezer little Troy jumped at it. He tried to open the door and Grace just gulped. She threw the door open and Troy let a scream of joy. He bent down to see what was inside and Grace lifted his legs into it. He couldn't find his footing but hit something soft. Grace had lined it with a soft rug and placed a couple of pillows too.
The lid was shut tight and secured with a lock. The room was briefly filled with the icy cold mist that engulfed Troy and in seconds there was no trace of both Troy and the cold mist.
Grace sat at the corner of the freezer with her hand where Troy's had been not long ago. Her eyes were welling up and she seemed to have aged suddenly.
There was a tap on the door.
She wiped her face, took a deep breath and opened the door. Czarina was smiling at her.So you did it eh? You are so desperate. I'm so enjoying this moment. Nah I'm not!
She sat at one of the sofas and said,
Won't you order something for me, I did so much for you.No, I won't. Please leave me alone.
Alright, as you wish. I just came here to tell you that one of my aides has found Greg.
Hmm, what? Where? I need to get him.
Yes, exactly what I want you to do. But we will come to that in a bit.
Yeah, what is it?
She said rather impatiently. Now that we have anchored, I want you to go to the nearest hospital and get me a few, say, 10 bags of blood.
Grace was so pale at hearing this, one might think the blood was for her.
No, I'm not going anywhere.
Really, you really think putting Troy in the freezer would make him human.
Wouldn't it?
Yes it would. But that's just part of the job. The rest I'll let you know when Greg is here.
Now get going. Off you go. I'll be in your room until then. If you take more than four hours, this would be the last time you will see him. She said pointing at the freezer nonchalantly.
Grace grabbed her purse and a scarf and hurried out.
What if you took him away while I'm gone?
Seriously, you think I'll what disapparate with the freezer, or fly out of the shop with Troy in my arms. You are so funny.I don't see the humor in that.
You need to loosen up. If I had to leave I would have left with troy days ago when you came on board and no man on Earth could have done anything about it. Now shoo. I get bloody mad when I'm hungry. You get it, eh?
Grace had no choice but to leave. She locked the door, put the key in her purse and left. She only hoped to see Greg as fast as possible.
Funny woman locking the door on a vampire that too the Queen Czarina. Hahaha.
Grace was leaving a hospital with the blood bags when she heard someone say, "You are being watched. She will come by noon tomorrow. Treat her well. Call ma again."
Grace saw a public phone and decided to call Greg again.
Ma, when are you coming? I'm so ...
Oh, so you have booked your tickets. The ship will be here for a week. Please hurry ma. I'm so scared, I'll loose him. Where will we take him? Did you find Greg? Hello? Hello?
She called again. This time to her real parents.
Dad, hello. Yeah dad. Everything is fine. Can I talk to ma? Please.
Her father seemed a bit miffed at this. She hadn't bothered to even enquire about him, his health, how they were. On second thought, they poke just a couple of days ago, not much had changed, so it was fine.
She told her mom to call Greg.
Strange request she thought.
Greg called Grace's parents and told them everything. Well not about the vampires, but about him being an international spy. He asked them to come to London by air. He had made arrangements and was sending them their tickets. He told them that they would be picked up at the airport and taken to safe place.
