Mousepelt was dreaming. Blackclaw's kits, Rainkit and Nightkit, were fast asleep alone in the nursery, with no mother to watch and protect them. Mousepelt walked in, waking the two she-kits. They looked up her with admiration that Mousepelt felt like a leader, or a deputy. Unfortunately, as if in a flash of lighting, the kits were on their sides, eyes wide staring at nothing. They lied in a pool of blood, pouring from their tiny bodies. Mousepelt backed away in terror. She looked down at her paws to see blood covering her paws. Thinking she was going to hurl on the bodies, the brown speckled she-cat bolted out the nursery, but froze when she saw Ravenclaw look at her, his whiskers twitching. His necks was then ripped open by claws and he bled to death right before Mousepelt. She pelted off then saw Jumbledstar with his back to her. He immediately turned to her, his mouth pouring out blood as he fell over dead. Mousepelt backed away in fear, but then saw Navi. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with her, but her pelt seemed to get greyer and greyer. Her eyes grew tired until she finally fell over to her side dead.
When Mousepelt was about to wail like a kit, she found herself in dark wood. She looked up to see there was no Silverpelt. There weren't even any stars!
"Hello?" Mousepelt cried out. "Where am I? Shadow? Shadowstar? Help!" She then silenced at the sound of shuffling not far off. Very slowly, Mousepelt went to go see where the sound was coming from.
Mousepelt picked her way through branches in the darkness. She could hear whispering and the angry yowls of cats in the distance. A familiar scent then over came her. She pelted through the brambles and saw a muscular white tom with a grey spot over one of his red eyes. Spotpaw! Mousepelt had to surpress a hiss as she saw Silversol circle him, as he sat upon a tree stump.
"What have I trained you to be?" Silverson purred.
"A warrior of blood." Spotpaw answered, his gaze staring at nothing and serious.
"What have I renamed you?" Silverson continued her questioning.
"Deathmask." Spotpaw responded. Deathmask? Mousepelt already shivered at the name. How could anyone be given the name Deathmask?
"What was Darkstar's goal?"
"To kill the Clan warriors and end StarClan, along with their noble code."
"What is your destiny?"
"I must avenge his death."
"And how do you plan to do that?"
"By spilling the blood of warriors in the lake and make it red."
Mousepelt surpressed a gasp as she backed away in fear. She wanted to run off and go back to ShadowClan, but she had no idea where she was. Finally, Mousepelt bolted off, not caring where she ended up. But she regretted her choice of bravery when she slid to a hault before a white tom with a scar that went from his face to belly. His cold blue eyes stared down at her. She could see sorrow in them, but they were blood thirsty as well.
"Well, well," Mousepelt spun to see Clawface appear from the shadows with Deathmask and Silversol, "if it isn't Mousepelt!"
