It was 5:15am. Almost time to get up. Last night, I couldn't sleep. I was too nervous, you see, today is the first day of school. Today everything could change. Beep. Beep. The alarm clock broke me out of my reverie.

I peeled myself off the bed and went to the bathroom. After my thoughts, I need a warm shower.  Since it's fall, it's starting to feel cold. After I finished, I wrapped my blue towel around me and walked to my room. "Where are my damn glasses? "

I blow-dried my hair, pulled it into a high ponytail and curled the ends. I applied a minimal amount of makeup and got dressed. I  went simple with a red flannel shirt, black tank top, skinny jeans, and my black Vans. I was ready and had time to spare until Kim picks me up.

I was reading a magazine by my desk when my phone dinged, signaling a text message.

Kim: Be there in a few x.

I put my phone in my back pocket and headed downstairs. Opening the door that leads to the kitchen I found mom and Steve, my stepdad, having breakfast.

"Hey kiddo," It was Steve who spoke. "Remember you have to stay today with the twins."
Crap, I forgot about that. "Yeah, sure."

I picked up an apple from the fruit bowl and grabbed my messenger bag. Taking a bite out of my apple, I waved them goodbye.

Grabbing my house keys, I opened the front door. The chilly wind hit me like a slap. It felt too cold to be Fall.

I walked down to the driveway where Kim was waiting in her red R8.  I got in the car. It has always been my dream car, except Kim's R8 was red, mine would be matte black.

"Hey"  She gave me a bone-crushing hug. "Let's go!" Kim looked at me funny. "What? Do I look okay?" I tried fixing my glasses but Kim's hands were holding mine.

"You look mighty fine." Kim assured me with her thick Aussie accent.

The drive to Ridgewell's High was short. Kim parked perfectly, of course, she did. She scored perfect in her driving test, she had no problem driving around. We heard several wolf whistles and giggled as we entered RHS.

The bell rang. I had memorized my schedule this weekend so I had no trouble getting to class. Our first class was Socials. God, I hate that class.

"Kim, you go ahead, I need to get some things from my locker." I pointed at the lockers and she nodded before walking off. Every hormonal teenager had their eyes on her since she was captain of the cheerleaders, she had to wear her uniform every Tuesday and Thursday.

I went to my locker to leave my messenger bag and grab a notebook for Socials. I closed it and was headed to Socials room but I hit something hard, not something, someone. I didn't have time to steady myself. I fell over him and my notebook and glasses went flying and we hit the ground hard.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry."  I scrambled to my feet and went to pick up my notebook and glasses when a hand reached for them and handed them to me. I put them on and looked up. I saw Luke Hemmings, captain of the football team, hovering over me.

"Dammit Williams, watch where you're going." He picked up his stuff and walked away. He's always been a jerk, especially to me. I felt embarrassed as I walked into Socials. When I entered, Mr. Smith gave me a tight smile and welcomed me.

I easily found Kim's flaming hair. She has freckles and bright green eyes. My hair has a chestnut color and my eyes are hazel behind my thick glasses. Calum was seated next to her taking my seat. He was trying to flirt with Kim but she ignored him, just like every year. I almost felt bad for him.

"Guys, take a seat, we'll start shortly." Mr. Smith said. Since Calum took my seat next to Kim, I sat on my own in the table next to them.
