4: The Big Game

Friday night

Luke's P.O.V.

It's been three weeks since I started hanging out with Athena. Three days ago, while I was in practice, I realized something. I like Athena, a lot. So that same day, I ran to her house and asked her out on a date. I was very nervous that she would've said no, but that didn't happen. I called Michael, a buddy of mine, to see if he could slip my name in the reservation list at The Restauran Millésime, where he works. He agreed to do it, of course.

After dinner, I took her to see The Fault in our Stars. When the movie finished, I took her back to her house, since it was getting late. She was about to go in when I grabbed her arm and I kissed her. I didn't think I had the valor to do it. Her lips were very soft and she tasted like vanilla. We broke the kiss to breathe and she went into the house and I drove over to my place.

Back at my house, I called Calum, so he could come over. We talked about how our dates went.

It feels like everything is going back to normal. Last year was really tough for me. It's been over a year since it happened.

I pushed the thought to the back of my mind as I drifted off to sleep.

Saturday morning

I woke up on the floor next to Cal. I stood up and stretched my sore muscles. I glanced at my alarm clock, the neon green numbers read 10:04.

I should call Athena. I grabbed my phone from my desk and walked out of my room so I don't wake Calum. I went to the kitchen and sat on the big island and dialed her number.

It goes to voicemail, I try 4 more times but failed. I started freaking out *Dude, maybe she's sleeping* my subconscious said as I called her again. This time she answers sleepy.            -Hello?- * See? I told you.*

-Sorry, did I wake you?- I ask.

-No,no I've been up for hours.- She stated yawning.

-Ha ha yeah right-  shut up I'm trying to get my beauty sleep I heard someone shout in the background. I suppose that's Kim.

-Kim go back to sleep or I swear I'll tell Cal about that time we went to the beach and omf!-

Something hit her as she laughed, maybe I should hang up.

-Hey, sorry. Kim isn't exactly a morning person.-

-Neither's Calum,-Hey! I heard that!- Cal shouted from my room.

-Soo, you're coming tonight?-I bit the inside of my cheek.

-Of course you goofball, wouldn't miss it for the world, but...- she paused. Oh-oh - You do have a jersey for me, right?-

-Well duh! I even put your name on it, remember the game starts at 8 so be there at 7:30 so I can see you before the game, 'kay?-

On cue, Cal came into the kitchen shirtless --Luke, are you-Shhh!-I threw him with the first thing I grabbed, which happened to be a banana. It hit him with a smack on his toned stomach. I laughed.

-Okay, see ya tonight- She chirped, God her voice was like an angel's, even in the morning.

-Ok, call me when you get there.-

I hung up and Calum threw me the banana, which I luckily dodged. He grabbed an apple from behind me and took a bite out of it.

-So, the plan still goes?- Cal asked while munching on his apple.

-I don't know...- I scratched the back of my neck - What if it doesn't work?-

Cal patted my back, -Mate, it'll all be ok, it will work-
