12. I Love You

*8 months later*

Uhura couldn't be happier. Uhura was living with the man of his dreams. Uhura was finally where she wanted to be. She was beginning to realize that she wouldn't be at the place she was at if she stayed with Spock.

Uhura walked down the hallway, a large grin on her face. She had just gotten off work and she was heading back to her shared quarters. Sulu was already there, as he had gotten off before Uhura did.

As Uhura stepped inside, Sulu stepped out of his room and smiled at her. He grabbed Uhura's hand and spun her around, making Uhura laugh. Pulling her in close, Sulu smiled down at Uhura.

Sulu kissed Uhura slowly. "I love you, Nyota. I love you with all my heart."

Uhura beamed. "I do too, Sulu. I'm glad we met all those years ago."

Sulu kissed Uhura again. "I do too. I wouldn't have known what it was like to love you."

Uhura rested her head against Sulu's chest as they slow danced. Sulu held Uhura tightly, not wanting to let go of his angel.

Sulu pulled away and pecked Uhura's lips. "I have a surprise for you."

Uhura smiled. "Oh really? What is it?"

Sulu lead her over to the table. There were candles and Uhura's favorite flowers on the table. Sulu was a botanist and he always knew what kind of flowers Uhura liked.

The table was already set. Enchiladas was already put on the plates, ready to eat. Uhura smiled as she ran her fingers over the tablecloth.

"It's so pretty, Hikaru," Uhura complimented. "I love it. You always know what I like."

Sulu smiled across the table at her. "I've known you for years, Nyota. I always remember the little things."

Uhura smiled. "Like how I love Mexican food."

"Like how you love Mexican food," Sulu repeated, smiling back.

Uhura giggled and started eating. Sulu stared at Uhura lovingly as he ate. He wanted to marry this woman.

Marriage. Sulu hadn't thought of that. He never thought he'd marry, but he wanted to marry Uhura. Sulu realized he had found the one. Uhura was the one for Sulu.

"Nyota?"

"Yes?"

"I love you."

Uhura giggled. "I love you too, Hikaru."

Sulu had said that out of the blue and he knew that made Uhura smile. Sulu loved Uhura very much. He wanted to be with her.

Uhura and Sulu finished eating and cleaned up. They sat on the couch, cuddling. Uhura rested her head on Sulu's shoulder and took his hands on hers.

They sat together and talked for hours. They talked about their Academy days and laughed over the fun memories. They remembered friends they no longer talked to and family members they missed.

Uhura and Sulu finally went to bed later that night. Uhura snuggled up against Sulu and buried her head in his shoulder. She fell asleep into a peaceful sleep in Sulu's arms.
