                                             ----------Eighteen------------

I watched as the Geneticist stared at the computer screen, at the strand of DNA that Emerald had found of her self on her parents computer. "So? What can you do? Can you read any of it? Or atleast tell us what some of it means?" I said, looking down at her, watching the computers as she traced her finger along the computer's outline. "Well, it will take a little bit for me to decode all of this, but it's clear as day, right there it says 'Possible Animal Telepathy' but that's really the only easy thing to read, because it's in English, not DNA." She said in a matter of factly manner. I nodded at her and looked away, looking towards where Emerald had left a couple minutes ago.  I hated when she just walked off on her own, after all, she didn't know the Society as well as I did or the castle. I just hoped she wouldn't get lost, since this place is huge with tons of twists and turns, but, I had faith in her. She's come a long way from just a regular teenage girl. Well, apparently she was never regular, but she was just waiting for her true potential to be discovered. When she discovered the ring, and what she could do, she used it, she knew how to, although she never trained. Its inside of her, the information is flowing through her veins, its in her bones, its her. She's exactly what her parents wanted her to be, if they could see her today, Damn, they'd be proud. I don't know how many times I've thought this to myself since I met her, but I know she's the one that's going to save us. She's going to save the society and end this war.

I was so deep in thought, I had completely forgotten what I was supposed to be doing, watching the geneticist to make sure she didn't do anything she wasn't supposed to. If I let something happen in this lab, I don't know how crushed Emerald would be, this is where she was created, where her parents spent most of their days. I couldn't let something happen here, Emerald didn't need anymore pain in her life, she's already had tons of it. I looked back down towards the Geneticist "Any new developments? Or is this going to take all day?" I asked, sighing, looking around the lab. She chuckled, turning her head and looking up at me "Dude, This is the most complicated piece of DNA I have ever seen, let alone probably anyone in the whole Society has seen. Its going to take as much time as needed, for me to decode it, the algorithm is working now. Have a little bit of patience." She rolled her eyes, then turned back towards the computer screen. Scientists, Geneticist, or any type of smart person that made this Society function and I don't get along very well. We're all trying to make the society a better place, but I just couldn't get along with Scientists sometimes, with how snobby they get at times. They made me want to bash my head against the wall, whenever I saw them, but, I always controlled myself, no use in showing weakness. I walked away from the Geneticist, walking over to the nearest wall, and putting my back to it, and leaning against it. I figured she would probably work better if she had some space. Apparently it worked, because all of the sudden I heard a notification sound come from the computer, and the Geneticist looked back at me and said "Come here. Its ready."

                                                        ----------Emerald----------

Knowing that I had a brand new power, that I could feel developing, but never realized until the words were right in front of my face was exciting. I couldn't wait to find El, and test out my brand new power, maybe even develop mine and El's friendship even more. With this new power, anything was possible between the two of us, I hope at least, with the coming war, I need all the power I can get. Any power is power, now that I think of it, animal telepathy could be more useful than I originally thought. Major Power or Minor power, whichever it turns out to be, it'll help me get a little bit more edge in every fight. I eventually showed up at my room, where I expected El would be, but before I even opened the doors, I had this feeling that she wouldn't be in there. I wanted to confirm my suspicion, though, so I opened the doors, walking in, and looking around for her. Just like I had thought, she wasn't in there. That's okay, I'm sure I could still find her, If we really were connected by this new power I have, I could find her. I walked into my bathroom, going over to my vanity, and sitting in front of it, and taking the hair tie out of my hair, letting my hair down. I grabbed the brush, brushing my hair again, then looking at myself in the mirror, I still felt like me when I looked in the mirror, unlike every day of my life before the ring. I pushed my hair behind my ears, something I never did, but It felt good. I then stood up, and walked out of the bathroom, looking around my room, then walking back out of my room. I had a mission, a friend to find, a power to test, I had an Idea, though.
