Summary: When the king dies, his son and daughter in law inherit his duty and troubles.

Worked for me: The prologue is extremely well written, with clever use of metaphors and sensory details to create the world. If all the chapters were written at this level, it would be a 7.5 or 8 out of 10.

I really like the characters, and their interactions with one another were also strong. The dialogue is also solid.

Needs work: Unfortunately, after prologue, the writing quality drops. Not sure if this is because the prologue has been edited, but it is a bit of a let down as the plot progresses. That said, there are still some great lines and strong imagery used in later chapters. With some tighter editing, focusing on sentence structure and straightforward constructions, it could be really strong.

Overall: 6.5/10. The writer is capable of producing quality work, so with a more consistent product, the overall rating would be much higher.
