dear diary,
it's currently 3:45. im sitting on the bleachers waiting for football practice to begin.
today was fine. nothing special though.
i told jj about the diary thing and turns out he was joking about me getting it the whole time. he's happy for me though, thats always a plus.
morning announcements went well, that was another plus. usually i stumble over a word accidentally. no one else notices it but i always do.
i keep thinking about what happened this morning with harry though.
i dont know why but something about his reaction makes me feel like i did something wrong. i hope i havent messed up any chance we have.
who am i kidding, there was no chance in the first place.
hes straight and popular. im neither.
you know this already though, ive written it down before. no matter how many times i write it, i cant seem to get it into my head.
it sucks. this all sucks.
anyway, im going to watch the football.
sincerely,
simon.
Simon put his book down and looked up, watching the team quickly gather for football practice.
Rarely anyone sat on the bleachers with him, which often made it awkward but Simon had gotten used to feeling awkward. It had just become the usual since JJ was practicing so he couldn't be there to make Simon feel safe. Some days, like today, he had Vik there with him.
Vik was friends with some of the other members of the team, like Josh and Tobi. He sometimes spoke to JJ but that was only if one of his two friends was with him. He wasn't as popular as them, but he was more popular than Simon. He was smack bang in the middle of the social ladder.
Simon looked over towards where Vik was sitting and watched him as he slid along the bench over to where Simon was. He was sitting a little bit away when he began to spoke.
"Hey Simon, are you going to Josh's party on Friday?"
Simon raised a brow. Him? Going to a party? Was Vik insane? Simon Minter and parties just didn't mix.
"No, wasn't invited." He shook his head.
"Everyone was! He said it was open to anyone who wanted to come."
Vik grinned whereas Simon let out a small sigh. He knew that he was technically invited, but Simon knew that 'open to anyone' means that Josh just wanted a big party and to hopefully get some people from other schools over. Didn't really mean he was wanted.
"Yeah well, I'm sure he wouldn't want me going."
Simon and Josh had barely had a conversation before, why would he want him at his house? It just didn't make any sense to Simon whatsoever.
"Please? I need another loser like me there."
Simon wanted to scoff and tell Vik that he wasn't a loser. That he had many more friends than the blond. That would be rude though so the only thing he said was:
"Maybe."
He lightly shrugged one shoulder and looked back towards the field when he noticed something kind of strange.
