Simon couldn't focus during his classes on Thursday. His mind kept flickering between two things.
Harry and the party.
He could ignore it for about 5 minutes at most but then the thoughts would come creeping back in.
Harry. Party. Harry is going to be at the party.
If Simon messes up at the party, Harry might see.
If Harry is there, Simon might get a chance to talk to him! Unlikely though, Harry would probably be off with some drunk chick wearing little clothing.
Simon sighed and looked down at his textbook. All the words seemed jumbled together, nothing made sense. Why was this getting to him so badly? The day seemed to go by quickly but the night dragged on and on. Simon's eyes didn't seem to shut until he could see the moon at the highest point in the sky. He had never fallen for someone like this before.
Friday was much the same, short jumbled classes and as he went back to JJ's house to get ready, he was a mess of emotions.
Next thing he knew, he was at the party.
Simon took a deep breath. He was currently standing outside of Josh's house, JJ by his side.
The wind was cool, but not cold. A light breeze swept through Simons hair, sending shivers down the blonde's spine.
"You sure I can do this?"
Simon cracked his knuckles, a nervous habit of his. JJ noticed this soon after one of the popping noises escaped his hand.
"I wont leave your side, dude. Don't worry." JJ reassured. He grinned and looked at Simon, hoping his smile would make the taller boy forget his worries.
"Yeah, alright. I'll text you if I need you badly."
"Ok, don't get too wasted."
JJ shook his finger at the blonde over dramatically. Simon laughed and rolled his eyes.
"We both know I won't."
There was a pause and JJ leaned forward to open the door however Simon stopped him from grabbing his arm lightly.
"Promise you won't ditch me?"
"Promise."
JJ pushed open the door and the faint mumble of music turned into full blown roaring.
The two boys made their way into the crowd of bodies. JJ nodded at a few people with the occasional "Yo Jide!" heard from someone within the swarm of people. If anyone made eye contact with Simon, he would awkwardly smile and occasionally give them a small wave. It was moments like this that Simon wished he wasn't so tall.
JJ went over to a couch and motioned for Simon to sit down on it. After watching the blonde settle himself into the couch, he said a few words that Simon could barely make out to be "I'll get us drinks.". It was hard to understand anything over the chatter and music, but he managed to do it.
As he sat there in the middle of the crowd, time seemed to slow. Bright lights and strangers everywhere, it felt so unnatural to the boy.
Before his anxiety got the best of him, his best friend returned with a bottle in each hand. He handed one to Simon before taking a swig of his own. The blonde stared at his bottle and took a small breath before taking a sip of his drink. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would've been.
"Alright, now you've got alcohol, time to go over basic party shit so you don't completely fuck up."
Simon nodded hesitantly, attempting to hear him over the noise.
