Things seemed to be looking up for them. All of them. Sherlock and John were growing close, Mary was on the verge of finding her roommate, Sam was willing to go on dates with Gabe, Cas and Dean were dating, Mycroft and Greg had met. Things were nice.

This pleased Chuck. A lot. Even though it upset and disturbed his other kids who argued strongly that angels should not have soulmates - especially not human soulmates.

Raphael and Michael seemed to be bothered the most. They took the role of eldest siblings in their family due to being the only last two archangels in heaven.

Which meant they were protective.

Not particularly protective of Gabe and Cas, mostly the other angels.  though they pretended to be in order to pull some of the standard BS.

"Samuel isn't right for Gabriel and Dean isn't right for Castiel."

Regardless, Chuck shook them off.

He wasn't too worried about what they could and could not do.

Even after Uriel and Hannah teamed up to chase Becky away, saying that she had no place with them.

Chuck may not have a soulmate, but he did feel love.

So of course he was sad and angry. But scared? No, he couldn't say he was scared.

Then one morning Raphael and Michael's beds were empty.

Now he was mildly concerned.

But a mere half hour later, they returned. But they weren't alone.

They had Balthazar.

"Hello, dad." An injured Balthazar groaned, leaning into Michael's arms.

"Balthazar." Chuck said, moving forwards.

"Father, if we can manage to bring Balthazar back, bringing back Castiel and Gabriel will be a piece of cake." Raphael said, nodding to Balthazar. "Let us go fetch out siblings."

"Doing that," growled Chuck, "Would endanger the humans around them. Both of them will come back in due time and of free will, or not at all. And if you think there's so much as a chance I want three of my kids in the state Balthazar's in, you don't know me too well. Furthermore, Gabriel's an archangel, and he's with someone of equal or more strength as Balthazar. Getting them, I assure you, would not be easy. And lastly, they're off meeting their soulmates, so you will let them be." Chuck delivered his speech as still as he could, but his hands were clenched in fists and he was shaking in anger.

"Of course, father." Raphael said, bowing his head.

Michael said nothing. Even when Chuck turned an angry eye on him.

He was cooking up his own plan. If they would not return, fine. Stay with the humans. But soulmates? Angels could not have them.

So he took action. At about 3 am.

He entered the house, quietly, Angel Blade gripped firmly. He was alone. But then, so was his target.

She was sitting on the couch, watching television, waiting for her husband to get home. He was at the bar, with some friends. She'd declined the invitation.

"Hello, Mary." Michael said, moving forwards.

She turned to face him, but instead of screaming, like he'd imagined she would, she pulled a gun from her boot, and jumped to her feet, aiming the gun at him.

"Talk." She snapped. "Who are you?"

"I am Michael," he said, "Son of Chuck. Sibling," he paused for dramatic effects, "Of Gabriel and Castiel."

Mary's eyes flicked down to his bare, nameless hands. Her stomach lurched.

"My siblings are alone in our family in that only they have soulmates. But, personally, I think they should distance themselves from those soulmates."

Mary pulled the trigger and Michael felt the bullet hit him in the head. "Oh, Mary." He said.

When he didn't die, Mary turned and ran towards the open window.

However, before she could make it out, Michael was upon her.

Now he had one more target. And if the two people he was at the bar with got in the way, so be it.
