John was sitting on the train, alone, as it sped on towards his stop.
"Anyone sitting here?" A girl asked.
John looked up into her dazzling blue eyes.
"No, No, sit on down." John said. "I'm John, by the way." He was blushing a bit now.
"John..." the girl whispered.
His eyes shot down to her hand, and he felt a glimmer of hope.
"John"
He almost said, 'Please tell me your name's Sherlock,' but he refrained. Instead, not knowing what to say, in case her name wasn't, he said, "Oh."
The girl quickly sat down and extended a hand. "I'm Mary." She said.
John shook her hand, feeling her curious eyes on his gloved hand.
"We're not..." He muttered. "You know. Soulmates."
Mary shrugged, almost curiously. "So? I don't date for soulmates, so few people actually find them. I date for happiness. Where are you off to?"
That glimmer of hope returned. "King's College. You?"

"Well, brother," Mycroft said, his voice static-filled. "Let me know if you find a Greg, who's soulmate is a Mycroft. Not that you will, nor that I would care."
"I won't." Sherlock promptly hung up as someone knocked at the door, before it opened.
"Erm..." Some boy muttered, seeing that he was interuptig a phone call.
"Hello." Sherlock said, looking at the boys hands. In his experience, and, apparently, according to statistics, people who were gay or had a partner with a more interesting/exotic name were more likely to be bullied and hence more likely to cover their hands with gloves. Like this boy.
"I'm Sherlock." He said, hoping the boy would respond with, 'That's my soulmates name! I'm John!'
"Sam." The boy said, reaching to shake Sherlock's hand.
"Lame." Sherlock said, dropping his hand, before Sam got the chance to shake it.
Sam's eyes widened a bit, but he couldn't find it in him to be offended. Something about Sherlock intrigued him...

"Dad, stop." Muttered Dean, hiding his face.
"Your younger brother and you are starting college at the same time." Their dad said, dismissively. "Why would I care if I'm embarrassing you?" He didn't add it, but both Sam and Dean knew he was thinking, 'You're embarrassing me.'
Sam quickly stood up and slammed the door shut behind him. Their dad was coming back tonight with their stuff, but there wasn't enough room for everything plus their belongings.
"Bye, Sam!" Their mother, Mary yelled, rolling down the window.
"Bye, mom!" Sam called out. He just glared at his dad.
Dean rushed up beside Sam.
They began the long process to get to their rooms, Dean snorted when he found out Sam's rooming with someone named, 'Sherlock'
He didn't let his brother see who he was rooming with, but when Sam caught the name 'Gabriel' on his brothers paper he understood why.
Sam had a nasty habit of getting his hopes up high.
Now Sam had met Sherlock and his first impression was: Asshole. His second was that there was more to him than the jackass Sam thinks he may have met.
