"Ah! Ms. (Y/n)!" cheered Mr. Jones. "I'm glad you were able to make it!"
"I'm glad I was able to make it in one piece as well."
He looks you up and down and smirks, "I have a question, what's going on with your hair?"
"Hm? What's the matter?"
"It looks... a bit off, from the last time I've seen you."
You reach a hand up into your hair and instantly realize what he's talking about. It was falling apart from its proper place. You sighed in defeat and shook your head, "The kind lady was quick to her feet and I cared more about where I was going rather than what was happening with my appearance."
He raised an eyebrow for a second. Then he settled his face into a soft smile and nodded, "Come over here, if you may."
You raised your eyebrow in turn and followed him towards the railing on the train ride so you had a better view of the landscape. You were utterly breathless.
You clutched your journal tightly and leaned out to feel the wind in your hair and blow into your face, it was amazing!
"Careful, it'll mess with your hair."
You pulled back and turned to Mr. Jones. "I've always wanted this moment of freedom, and my hair is already messed up."
You pulled back so you and your journal was safe and you undid your hair. He stared in shock and blushed at the sight. It made you realize something but you didn't care to mention it at the moment, "I'm going to enjoy what taste of this life I can have."
He turns to the railing and leans on it. Happy and admiring the outcast similarly to yourself. The two of you happily stayed in silence, then you realized you were nearly touching him. You instantly gave yourself some space with him and answered, "As lovely as it has been on this train and seeing the beauty of nature, I think it's still unlawful to be so... secluded."
He burst into laughter, "I haven't even thought about that. I'm sorry Ms. (Y/n)."
"You'll be sorry if you try anything, Mr. Jones."
"I wouldn't dare."
You smile and look over to him, "Good. I have a few questions about you, Mr. Jones. If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind. From you at least. I would be worried about your mother though."
You chuckled at the statement and shook your head, "Mr. Jones!" You cried out, "You can't say things like that!"
"You are correct. It's a good thing I never did~"
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, your smile still content on your face. "In the morning, when we were waiting for you."
"It was impolite?"
"No, I'm not worried about that. What I'm curious about is how I saw you watching us from afar before you came to visit us. Care to explain what was going through your head?"
"I was talking-"
"Mr. Jones. I can tell when someone was done conversing with a person or if they're studying something. You were studying us."
"So you already know what I was doing."
You smirk and turn back to the view, "I want to know what you think of us."
"Well, your mother is the typical snobby high-class lady that kisses up to anyone she thinks is above her and is very controlling of those underneath her."
"You're not wrong..."
"Your father is just as sweet and lively as I could tell from his letters. He's a great man and a good businessman. But seems to be too content with the future that's going to come around."
You hum to yourself. "You seem worried."
"I am. I can tell he might be a victim of the American change if he's going to try to dip his feet into here."
You sighed and looked down to your journal. "Then there's you."
You turned over to look at him properly as he turned to face you as well. "You're so full of life. You see things that nearly everyone misses and is willing to take any chance you get to get what you want."
"Is that a good thing, Mr. Jones?"
"It's... exactly what your company needs... and if I can admit, quite attractive."
You blushed and took some steps away from him, "Thank you Mr. Jones, but I should go-"
"Wait! Ms. (Y/n)!"
"Bye Mr. Jones."
He grabbed onto your wrist making you turn back to him. He was more than strange, he seemed insane now. But his eyes screamed something you've sworn you've never seen before. But it told you to stay. Just a little longer.
"I promise I won't any more remarks like that again."
You shook your head, "You're insane, and I must be too..." You tugged on your arm and he let go. You stood your ground and looked up to him. He was still as handsome as ever. And his genuine smile made him seem to have a glow around him.
"I do admire you, Mr. Jones. You're nothing like I've ever seen and everything I've dreamed in what the world could be like. Adventurous and mysterious. Happy and bright. I just think I don't know how to handle it."
"You are nothing like what I've ever seen as well."
You look down to your journal and back up to him. "Do... you think I'll be able to run my father's company well?"
"I think you'll change the world with your ambition."
You felt your breath caught in your throat. "G-G-Good day. I'll see you when we exit."
"Toot! Tooooot!"
"That's... the stop, Miss. You should go get ready."
"Right, I'll see you soon then. Mr. Jones."
"Just Alfred."
"Alright, then just (Y/n)."
He grinned and rushed over to the door, "You should fix your hair when you get back too."
You roll your eyes and hit him on the chest with your book. Then he followed after you and you rushed off towards your room. Praying that you'll first find it, and won't get scolded by your Mother about anything.
