Prologue-Go to the door step, a witch will have you teleported.
(Only this chapter is in the third person perspective.)
Harmony sat in the corner of her room, curled up behind her white feathered wings. She didn't plan on going anywhere today, she simply could not bring herself to make her wings suffocate under another corset.
Her quiet hums stopped as her head lifted up when she heard a knock at the front door of her family's home. Slowly standing, her wings went flat against her back and dropped to her feet. She timidly wrapped her hand around her bedroom door and poked her head out to check down the hall, trying to spot whoever was at the door. That's when her mom suddenly barged into her bedroom.
"Harmony! She's here! Oh, you don't even know who I'm talking about for goodness sakes." Her mother laughed to herself quietly, shaking her head. Harmony tilted her own, confused.
"One of Betnore's professors are here, Professor Evanora!" Harmony's mother looks very nervous, a slim layer of sweat has already made it's way onto her forehead. And of course, Harmony notices.
Harmony raises her eyebrows. "Why-Why is she here? Was I accepted into the school? Why wouldn't they just send a letter or something.." Six months ago Harmony had sent an application to Betnore, the institute of The Arcane. She had been tired of constantly needing too hide her wings, so her family discussed it and even though Harmony was hesitant and nervous, she still hoped she would get in.
Her mother sighed, running her hand down her face. "Here's your acceptance letter, it has been in the mailbox for three months and we all kept forgetting to check it. I haven't opened it yet, but the professor at the door has informed me that you got in!"
Harmony felt a bubble of excitement and nervousness form in her chest, but a question was still ringing like a siren in her mind.
"Okay..But again, why is a professor here in the first place?"
Her mother, Penelope, seemed to be fairly hesitant on giving Harmony an answer, but after a long five seconds she began talking. "She's here to send you off, I didn't know it would be so soon. I'm sorry. But you need to pack!"
Penelope rushed out of Harmony's room in a frenzy, leaving Harmony stunned. She slowly brought the envelope to level with her eyes, and she quickly grew anxious as she read the back.
'To Harmony Windstone,
From Betnore, Institute of The Arcane'
She ripped it open and read the paper inside.
'I would like to congratulate you upon being accepted into Betnore, the Institute Of The Arcane! Our school will become your new home for the next four years, offering an extra four if you wish to learn specifically of one career, such as potion brewing, magic, and more!
Terms begin on September the fifth.
Yours truly,
Professor Zaurbek'
Harmony's eyes widened a significant amount, her wings going straight out to the sides; only to smash into both walls of her small beroom. Her hands shook as she held the letter in her hand, the torn envelope completely discarded on the ground.
Just as Harmony was about to make any sign of movement, her mother's head popped back into her room. "You have to hurry and start packing, Harmony! I know its a lot in one day, even I'm stressed and I'm not even the one going to a new place.. But you'll be fine, okay? Okay!" Penelope clapped once and shut Harmony's door once again.
A few anxious tears welled up in Harmony's eyes, and she wiped them away before they even had the chance to fall. Harmony had wanted to go to this school, she wants to meet others who are like her- (besides her dad, who is an angel) who aren't human.
