Chapter 3: Let it Begin!
We got to meet Ludo Bagman, who apparently was Percy's boss. Fred and George placed a bet with him of that Ireland wins but Viktor takes the snitch. How'd they think of that? Mr. Bagman called Percy Weatherby and we all took a good laugh at that.
We were walking through the shops and decided to buy some souvenirs for ourselves. "Been saving my pocket money all summer for this," Ron said.
"Must not be a lot," I snickered. He just glared at me and continued to buy what he wanted. He bought an Irish shamrock hat and a green rosette. And, of course, he bought a small toy figure of Viktor Krum.
"Wow, that sure is a keeper." I said as I gave him a pat on the back. I chuckled and waked away as I felt his glare on my back once again. I didn't mind in all honesty. I bought myself an Irish teddy bear as it had an Irish T-shirt on and a shamrock hat that it was wearing. It was really cute. I also bought an Irish candy bar.
"What are you, seven?" Ron asked as he snickered at what I had bought.
"What? I got a soft side too, ya know." I said with a grin.
"Wow, look at these!" Harry said and I turned around to see Harry around the omnioculars.
"You can replay action, slow everything down, and they flash up a play-by-play breakdown if you need it. Bargain -- ten Galleons each." The saleswizard said.
"Wish I hadn't bought this now," Ron said. I hope he was talking about the toy figure.
"Four pairs," Harry said. I gaped at him.
"No, Harry. I can buy them." I said.
"It's alright, I want to." Harry said.
"Well, if you're sure," I said as I looked at him carefully.
"You won't be getting anything for Christmas. For about ten years, mind." Harry told Ron jokingly.
"Fair enough," Ron said.
"Thanks, Harry." Hermione and I said.
"And I'll get us some programs, look --" Hermione said and she bought a program for the World Cup. When we were finished we headed back to the tents. Everyone practically was wearing something of Ireland or held a flag, all but Fred an George as they given up all their money for gambling.
Then, I heard a loud boom that startled me quite well as I jumped from it. Fred and George bursted out into laughter.
"It's time! Come on, let's go!" Mr. Weasley said excitedly and we all hurried onto the trail. I walked between Ginny and Hermione as we walked for about twenty minutes just laughing and talking about what was yet to happen.
We reached a gigantic golden stadium that made my jaw drop in amazement.
"Seats a hundred thousand." Mr. Weasley said. "Ministry task force of five hundred have been working on it all year. Muggle Repelling Charms on every inch of it. Every time Muggles have got anywhere near here all year, they've suddenly remembered urgent appointments and head to dash away again. . . Bless them."
We walked towards the nearest entrance which many others were already swarmed around and being rudely loud.
"Prime seats!" said the ministry lady and she checked our tickets. "Top box! Straight upstairs, Arthur, and as high as you can go."
We had to walk on millions of stairs that were taking the breath out of me as we continued to go ahead. Once we got to the top, I plopped my butt onto the nearest seat and exhaled deeply as if I was losing oxygen. I was in between Harry and Hermione.
