"(y/n)?" Jaehyun called from the common room. "Are you almost ready?" He had planned for the two of you to go to the beach together and despite the nagging feeling of dread in your gut, you agreed to come along. Now you were beginning to regret it as you stood in front of your mirror in your bikini of choice.
You stared at your reflection with a blank expression, internally scrutinizing every aspect of your appearance.
"(y/n)?" Jaehyun's voice was closer, and it dawned on you that you never answered him the first time.
"In here." You responded, and your heart warmed a bit when he showed up in the doorway. He smiled fondly at you and walked over to where you were, standing behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist.
"Are you okay?" He asked, and you shook your head, slightly embarrassed. "What's wrong?"
"I don't think I can go to the beach, today." You said quietly.
"Why not, babe?" He asked, and your eyes began to well up with tears.
"You're going to think that I sound like an idiot." You gave a watery laugh. Jaehyun only held you tighter around your waist. "No I'm not, you can tell me."
You sighed. "People are going to see me, Jae."
"What's wrong with that?"
"I look awful." You whispered. "I mean," You said, gesturing toward the mirror. "My shoulders are too broad, my arms are too skinny, my stomach is too soft, my torso is too long -"
Jaehyun cut you off. "Stop." You averted your eyes from him, ashamed. "Babe, look," You shook your head. "look," He said more firmly, and you reluctantly met his gaze in the mirror. He ran his hands up and down your sides, his touch light and soothing as he took in your reflection from over your shoulder.
"You're absolutely beautiful, darling. I hate that you can't see that."
"Jaehyun..." You breathed, your cheeks tinged pink. He shushed you. "I'm sorry I never realised how you felt about yourself, (y/n)." He murmured.
"It's fine." You assured him, your own reflection beginning to make you uncomfortable.
"But it's not." He said. His mouth was directly next to your ear and his low tone sent shivers down your spine. "I know that you don't, but I love every part of you."
Jaehyun murmured sweet things in your ear about parts of your body while he ran his hands over them in turn while you watched him in the mirror. By the end, you couldn't help but smile at his kind words and loving touch.
"It's okay if you don't want to go, but I just want you to know that you're perfect." He murmured, then kissed your cheek. You turned around and pressed your lips to his, and pulled away with a smile.
"I think... we can go. I'm okay." You told him, and he smiled.
"Are you sure? I don't want to push you to do something you're not comfortable with."
"I think it'll be fun," You said, pulling out of his grasp and grabbing your flip-flops.
While you still felt extremely self-conscious about your appearance while at the beach, you kept thinking of the things that Jaehyun had said before you'd left, and, at least for a moment, your insecurities seemed less significant. You began to think, maybe some of the things that he's pointed out were right, and you loved him for it.
