And begin!

The slight patter of rain. The humidity of the air the hypnotic movements of the water as it falls from the sky.
Wylan loved the rain it reminded him of those spring days with his mother when the rain would come down and they'd slip on their boots and go splash around in the puddles.

Wylan sighed as he closed the book heavily and threw it across his dorm.
"You ok?" A small voice came from behind him. His roommate, Kuwei wore a worried expression.
"Fine" Wylan smiled "just fine" of course, he wasn't fine, he just didn't want to worry his only friend.

"You know the test isn't for another week, you can give studying a break, besides you need sleep" Kuwei reasoned. Wylan held his face in his hands before nodding "yeah, yeah you're right" he replied and got up.  He collapsed on his bed and pulled over his curtains.

He wished he could just disappear.

Wylan tossed and turned all night long and listened solemnly to the rain. He missed his mom. He wanted his mom. It had been so long. So long since he's been to her grave. Since he was permitted to see her grave. His father forbade it.

Wylan got up when the sun filtered through the window. He put on his shirt and pants and Ravenclaw tie and slipped on his robe. He rubbed his eyes thinking his eyebags would evaporate. He left early and walked down the hall to the kitchens.

He never ate with the other students, the house elves were more than happy to serve him as long as he helped clean dishes afterwards, which he did happily. He walked in and noticed the house elves at work "hello Wylan" one of the elves said trying to balance three boxes at once. "Hi, do you need help with that?" Wylan questioned as the boxes tilted and wobbled. "Oh yes please" the elf said.

Wylan put the box down and helped stack them. "All done" he said wiping his hands together. "Thank you" said the Elf thankfully. "Your welcome" Wylan replied. He knew what it meant to do things alone.
Ever since his mom died- disappeared he was forced to do work around his manor by his father.

His father was a prick. A full on asshole but he was his father and he had to listen. His father had kicked him out of their estate for reasons he'd rather not disclose at the moment.
The bell rang loud and he had to go he said his farewells to the house elves an made his way to potions class.
He sat down and took out a roll of parchment for notes and his Quill and ink.

He was the first one there as always and he stared blankly as the other students filed in. No one sat next to him, as usual. He sighed and just as the professor was starting his lecture a group burst in. "Sorry we're late!" One girl, Wylan recognized as Nina Zenik, yelled.
The group consisted of Nina, a small girl with bronze skin, a tall blonde haired boy, and a boy with dark skin that made his heart skip a beat.
Wylan shook the feeling off and looked back.

The only free seats were the ones around Wylan so they all say around him. The dark skinned boy was sat next to him and flashed him a mischievous smile.
Wylan flushed and turned to state directly at the professor. The boy chuckled and joined him in the staring.
Wylan glanced at the boy who looked bored. The boy turned his head and started talking to the bigger girl of the two.

Wylan was getting distracted at there loud whispering. He turned around annoyed "excuse you can you please be quiet and shut your mouths?! I can't hear a thing the professor is saying!" Wylan called a little louder than intended.
"Is there a problem Mr. Van Eck?" The prof. Asked.
Wylan flushed again and shook his head embarrassed "no sir" he said in a low, soft voice.

The chuckles behind him made him tense up and he put his head in his arms wanting to disappear from the world. "Hey" a voice next to him said. He ignored it. "hey" it said again this time accompanied by a poke.
Wylan lifted his head and looked at the boy. "Your good at potions right? Top of the class?" The boy asked. Wylan nodded "yes what of it?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"It's just I really need a tutor and you're my best bet" the Gryffindor boy pleaded.

Wylan sighed "ok, we meet after school either at the Ravenclaw common room or in the library starting tomorrow" he asserted.
Jesper raised in eyebrow and raised his hands "ok, your the boss" he said.
Wylan nodded and went back to the lesson listening intently. throughout the class Wylan snuck glances at the boy and realize he doesn't even know his name. "I'm Wylan by the way" he whispered. "Jesper" the boy whispered back.

"Jesper..." Wylan whispered back liking the way it rolled off the tongue. "That's my name don't wear it out!" Jesper boasted. "Mr. Fahey! Quiet down, and stop distracting the poor boy" the teacher scolded. "sorry sir" Jesper huffed and pouted. Wylan ducked to hide a grin.

Jesper nudged him playfully ending the smirk. Wylan smiled. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
