Lia’s POV
Mary helps me getting ready for my date with Luke. I’m really glad she is because I seriously don’t know what to wear. I am scared of what she will say about me and Luke though. She hasn’t mentioned it yet and I hope she forgot about it.
‘Try this one on, I think it will look cute on you.’ She says while picking out a cute black dress. It’s really tight but it looks cute actually.
‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS JUST WALKED INTO THE ROOM’ Mary sings when I walk back in the dress after I showed it to my mom. I smirk at her and continue the song.
‘Making heads turn can’t stop looking at you!’
‘It’s all right, it’s all right, it’s all right you know.’ We both continue the song until Mary says something to me.
‘But seriously, this dress looks really cute on you. Luke will not be able to keep his eyes of you.’ She says but I know something is wrong, seeing the look on her face.
‘Just tell me, what’s wrong? You wanted to talk about Luke anyway.’ I say to her. Mary starts making loose curls in my hair when she starts talking.
‘I don’t know Lia, what was his excuse anyway?’ Mary asks me and I explain everything Luke told me.
‘Well it is a good reason but I just don’t really believe him, I don’t know what it is. I just have this feeling you know?’ She says after I’m done talking. I don’t have that feeling at all but before I can say anything she continues.
‘It’s all so sudden. First he just drops you and never talks to you for almost a year. Even at the signing he didn’t stood up for you when Michelle was just being rude to all of us and now he says it was all because of a stupid scholarship? Isn’t that scholarship important anymore now? Are you’re less important than a scholarship? Are you worth being let down by a person so he could get a stupid scholarship? NO LIA! That’s just not how it works. And you know what the worst part is? It wasn’t enough for you to just forgive him. No, you already have to go on a date with him. I don’t get it Lia, I really don’t get it.’
‘You don’t have to get it. And besides, he wanted to go to that school for his whole life and it wasn’t his intention to drop me! You just can’t stand that I finally found someone that I can be happy with and you’re still single. Let me finally be happy Mary! I really like him and he likes me! If you can’t be happy for me, you should just go away. And thanks for the hair.’ I yell at her. I can’t believe I just did that. We never had a fight before.
‘Fine Lia, have it your way. But if he hurts you, don’t come crying to me. I warned you.’ Mary yells back and she walks away. Why doesn’t she get that Luke isn’t a bad person? He meant what he said to me, I know that. I look up and I see my cheeks are all red. I didn’t know I was crying. I look at my clock and see that it’s already 6.15. I have to hurry if I want to look at least decent on the date. I grab my foundation and quickly cover up the redness in my face. When I hear the doorbell ring I look at myself in the mirror and you almost can’t see I have been crying. I hear my father open up the door and talking to Luke. He didn’t know what Luke did to me last year and I know it’s better if he will never know. I grab my purse and a jacket and walk down the stairs.
‘Wow. You look stunning Lia.’ Luke says to me. I look at him and see he’s wearing just a plain black shirt, jeans and a grey leather jacket. It’s simple but it looks really hot on him.
‘Thanks. Bye dad, BYE MOM!’ I say and I give my dad a quick kiss on his cheek and I scream to my mom who’s in the living room.
‘HAVE FUN HONEY!’ My mom screams back.
