"Just Friends."

chapter one.

"Ouch!" I yelled when i pinched my finger in the cash register. I've worked here at the DX gas station for about 7 months and still seem to do that every once in awhile. I started working here after my friend, Sodapop, told me I should stop being so lazy and get a job. I thought about it and decided it would be a good idea since im pretty much bored all the time and to have some extra money for clothes because i love to shop. Also working at the DX isnt so bad, i basically just spend the day with my two really good friends Soda and Steve. There awesome I've known them forever it seems and we get along real good. "Whats a matter?" Soda said. "Oh the usual just pinched my finger in the cash register thats all." I said laughing a little. "Well Jess do we need to call the ambulance?" He said jokingly. "Im pretty sure im okay, thanks though." I said still laughing. He smiled then walked outside to put gas into someones car. I didnt really like my nickname Jess but thats what everyone calls me so i have to deal with it. My real name is Jessica and im 17, i have long dark brown hair and brown eyes. Im pretty short for a 17 year old, im 5'5 but i dont really mind. Im also a greaser like everyone in the east part of town and in a gang. Theres eight of us in the gang (including me) and we a get along very good. Theres me, Sodapop, Steve, Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally, Two-bit, and Darry. Ive known them all since I've moved to Tulsa about 7 years ago. I love all of them as brothers except one. I think i might be really in love with Steve. Steve has been my bestest friend ever since I've moved here, he was the best. He was the first one I met out of the gang and he was always so nice to me. He always walks me home from the Curtis house because he doesn't want me to get jumped by the socs. He also drops me off and picks me up from school and not to metion he is insanely cute. "Jess!!" Steve said. "Oh sorry I was just day dreaming." I said smiling a little. "Well i was wondering if you wanted to go get some lunch with me and Soda." He said. "Yeah sure let me just lock up and ill br right out." I said still smiling. I just couldn't help but smile when im around him, he makes me really happy and i like that. When i finished locking up i jumped into Steves car. "So where are we eating?" I said. "Ooooh can we get pizza?" Soda said excitingly. "I guess even though we have that every single day!" He said laughing. "Okay now lets go im starving!"
