[Ch.1 ] Flashback

In this life full of darkness, can you be my light?

Chae's POV

"Chae, what do you think suits me more?" my brother Chansung asked, "The black or blue button-up?" He said holding the two tops up.

"I think the black one suits you more," I said, smiling at him while doing my homework.
"don't you think you should give it a rest, it's a weekend and I think you should be more like those other kids your age having fun and all, not holding up in your room studying books you've read a thousand times " he muttered wearing his shirt.

Chansung frowned looking at his little sister, who was muttering science equations to herself. The siblings didn't even notice their parents walking in. "I know I should feel proud like all those parents when they see their child working hard but, Chae why don't you give it a rest. Come with us and have a relaxing night" my dad, Taekhoon said.

" I have to agree with your father Chae, you need to relax sometimes too " Ha Won, my mom said.

"It's okay mom I have to study in advance you know how I want to have high grades and become a successful doctor," I said, spinning the chair around smiling at them. dad glanced at his watch seeing that time he suddenly let out a gasp. " oh we're going to be late if we won't leave now for sure the Kim's are waiting for us " he said to mom.

" bye honey we'll be back by midnight, are you sure you'll be fine here on your own?" my mom asked worriedly.

" Okay mom I'm just gonna stay in and review my notes, just be careful on your way there and going home too ", I said smiling at her.

Why do I have this feeling that it doesn't want my family to go to the dinner with the Kim's, why do I have this feeling that it's like it would be my last time seeing them or they'll be gone for a long time?

" Chae just promise us that you'll take care of yourself okay," my brother said sincerely looking into my eyes. " don't worry I'll be right here waiting," I said smiling at them.

I hugged them and kissed their cheeks, after that they went out of the house and in the car heading to the restaurant where Kim's are currently waiting.

Don't let them go you'll regret it ..... a part of me said, oh how I wish I didn't even let them go out of the house in the first place or I just much better I just went with them...

An hour passed when I suddenly felt hungry, " I think I should take a break its been an hour since I started reviewing," I muttered to myself.

I finished eating my sandwich and is walking through the hallway when our family picture that is hanging on the wall caught my eyes. It's our most recent family picture where they forced me to skip school and have our picture taken.

I felt an icy feeling creeping through my veins and it's making me uncomfortable, it feels like something bad is about to happen. And then just like some magic trick or something, the frame that contains our picture fell from the wall where it hanged.

" the hell? How did it fall, last time I checked it was newly hanged and the nail is sturdy" I muttered. I was gonna pick up the pieces of shattered glass when suddenly my phone rang where I accidentally left it, on the kitchen's countertop.

I picked up the phone," Hello who is this? "

" Is this Ms. Yoo Chaeline? " A woman's voice answered. " yes this is me, who is this? " I wondered who is this, the number is not even saved on my phone.

" This call is from ***** Hospital Ms. Yoo we just want to inform you that your parents and brother were rushed here not too long ago, they got into a car accident and are currently in a critical condition." The lady answered.

I suddenly felt cold it's like cold water was poured down on me. " If this is some kind of joke, I swear it not funny " I felt tears slowly building up.

" I'm sorry Ms. Yoo but this is not some kind of joke your family's car has been caught up along with some other cars because of a truck that was suddenly out of control, " the lady said but all I heard was a loud ringing, I felt light-headed but then I remembered my family is currently fighting for their lives in the hospital. Not sparing a minute I ran out of the house not bothering to change or anything o saw one of our drivers and called him over " Mr. Park please I need to hurry mom and dad also my brother has been rushed to the hospital I need to hurry " I said tears blurring up my vision.

He hurriedly started the car and drove as fast as he can.

When we arrived at the hospital I ran in and asked at the station where my parents are. " Mr. and Mrs. Yoo is still under surgery same as your brother, head to the left and that's where the OR is "After the nurse told me the location I ran forgetting even to thank the nurse.

I ran to the front of the doors when the nurse stopped me, "I'm sorry ms but this is the farthest you can go".

I sat down on the plastic chairs nearby and cried, ' Eomma, Appa, Chansung Oppa please be safe '. I prayed to God that he will keep them safe and that they'll make it through the surgery.

After a few hours, a doctor went out of the OR. " What are your relations with the patients?" The doctor asked.
" I'm their daughter how are they? " I said.
The doctor looked at me and said those words that made my whole world fell apart.

" I'm sorry Ms. Yoo we tried all our best to save them but I guess it's their time to go ".
